I went to the first celebration ... it was definately worth it ... my wife had just delivered our child ... and she said ... "go for it ... might be a once in a lifetime thing" ... and it was awesome ... great to see Paisley Park and the nighttime atmosphere ... wild ...
but ... at this point in my life ... with child ... and work ... it would just be a huge sacrifice ... and it is tough to plan ... due to prince's last minute sales , etc ... i saw the tour in washington the other month ... definatly worth the 225+/- cost of admission (npg and the tix) ... but it is hard to justify ... with family ... taking a couple of grand ... and then ... losing a couple of grand .. (missed work) ... when other things are going on ... lol ... but i do miss it ... and ... i would love to go back ... perhaps next year ... (like others said ... when i am loaded ...)

I've said it before and i'll say it again. I love Prince and have for years. But Prince fans give me the creeps. I equate it to being a Star Trek fan. I love Star Trek, but i wouldn't be caught dead at a convention. I love Prince. You'd have to point a gun at me to get me to go to Celebration. You kids wear weird clothes and write funny things on your own time. I'll chill here in Detroit. Thanks. [This message was edited Mon Jun 24 8:19:04 PDT 2002 by ButterscotchPimp] I dunno ... is it really any sadder than hanging around on a fan site like Prince.org every hour of the day? You guys seem to have this cartoonish image of fans being all dressed up in ruffles and lace and wearing makeup and trying to out-do each other with their knowledge of Prince trivia and bootlegs. Well I'd hope that we're all getting a bit too old for that kinda carry-on (It isn't really like that is it?). Prince is pretty old now, and so are his fans. I'd imagine it'd be nice to meet up with some of the people I communicate with on the Org daily, with the added bonus of seeing a few concerts and seeing the sights, Paisley etc. Ian First of all, if there were a post count you'd see that i'm hardly one of the "regular Org-ers". And lastly, did you SEE the pics from last year? You look at those and then tell me it's not all people dressed in ruffles and with words on their gear like the Lovesexy tour. Ha! http://www.facebook.com/p...111?ref=ts

Man, for me, going to the celebration is like one of those "Things I gota do before I die" things. Stuff like:
Skydive Go Scuba diving See tha Mona Lisa Grab Carmen Electra's Ass Go to the Celebration ... yadda yadda yadda "Funk is something you learn in school
and there ain't nothing funky about bein' cool."
