No, papa is a multitudinal meaning song of prince, like most of his other songs ... nothing autobiographical... fathers physically abusing their kids is  [Edited 12/18/05 16:02pm] | |

WEll, here's the Question? Prince says Don't Abuse Children or else they turn out like me? So what does that mean? His Personality..His Work Ethic? His Insecurity? what is he Talking about? What is his PERCEIVED DEFECT? Unable to have Relationships? What is his PROBLEM? | |

Good question. Either Prince had an idea he thought would work for a song and just made the whole thing up, or there's an element of truth to the song that we don't (and shouldn't -it's his business) know about. Well, I doubt Prince is saying abuse children and they will turn into multi-millionaire global rock stars! I think he is aware that his image is/was that of a 'freak' for want of a better word, and ideally, parents don't want their children turning into freaks (even if Prince came out of it okay). Clearly Prince's father didn't shoot himself with a shotgun! Ever since Purple Rain, clearly with elements of autobiography, people have assumed that Prince had an abusive father. But from what I've read, Prince's dad was strict but not that bad. Though clearly they couldn't get along to the point of Prince living apart from either of his parents. | |

There was a thread with an interview with some female friend from Prince´s past here not too long ago, but I don´t remember the name. During the interview she mentioned something about Prince doing some stupid things as a kid, if I recall correctly there was also something about throwing rocks at cars or damaging them or whatever. And on Larry King he (Prince) talked about his father and their relationship and that he was a strict disciplinarian. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! ----- He came out and said that he father was abusive on Oprah and mentioned it in other interviews. I am not sure why people don't want to believe it. Child abuse is more common than people think. | |

His Father HIT HIM or HIS MOM? So what is Prince's Problem he is talking bout? INTIMACY/TRUST issues? That's Every Child in an ABUSIVE FAMILY.... Michael Jackson was ABUSED also by PAPA JOE and also is AFRAID of Women to a DEGREE. Jackson FEELS CLOSER / SAFER amongst CHILDREN.... | |
