Observer Music Magazine - Prince mention

Interesting - to some smile - Prince mention in this month's Observer Music Monthly magazine(UK). It features the 'five tracks you must hear this month'.

Prince - 'Te Amo Corazon'

The spectacular rehabilitation of the artist formerly known as what-do-call-him-this-week? continues apace with a title that translates as 'I Love You Sweetheart'. A classy jazz ballad with a chord change that makes your innards go all floppy, it's culled from his forthcoming album '31:21', Prince's first for the Universal label (which is set for release within the next few months), and boasts a video directed by Salma Hayek.

All this comes in the wake of 'Musicology', last year's return to form album that snagged two Grammys off the back of a record-breaking American tour.

Seems like all those appalling NPG albums are forgiven.

A more favourable review than most fans have given the song.

'rehabilitation'? It kind of implies that journalists will only like Prince's work when he's playing the music industry game, signed upto a label and releasing 'safe' music, whereas making experimental albums and creating a whole new independent business model that companies are only now catching upto, is seen as going off-the-rails. I'm sure that's because a lot of music journalists are in the pocket of big music companies, after all they get all those free invites to gigs and launch parties and all the associated goodies...

Of course. Journalist are in the pocket of the record companies and they did not and will not ever give P credit for his business model.

Pretty much my own sentiments. I was waiting to see if anyone would react in the same way.
