We agree again... It's quite bland and uninspired.

Geez newpowersoul I hate that we seem to sound somewhat negative I guess but I tend to agree with you. I don't know that its bad it just seems sorta plain.

I LOVE it!

If actually have been listening to music witht he latin vibe for a while now.
It's terrific!

HOWEVER, definately not hit material, and a poorly chosen single to precede an album---but, it's Prince.

I'm NOT feeling this song, where is the funk?...bland, dull and a borefest.
How can this compete with songs like "All My Dreams", fudge this...roll on that new factory pressed outtake CD in Feb '06 (god willing)

The whole movie vibe is what I get out of it. Replace Venus De Milo with this song on UTMC and see if it fits in. I think I am going to try it.

It's not as horrific as I expected lol

I am however obsessed with songs that interpret Adam & Eve, original sin, the first love and that day in the garden. That makes me much more open to it than if it were simply another love song to one of Prince's bimbos smile

TurnItUp

Thanks so much Undercoverbrotha I appreciate it.

I really love the song and the best thing it's FREE. biggrin. I, personally, don't belong to the NPG club. I would if it had more to offer and you didn't have to pay to download after you done already paid for membership.

I feel it was a beautiful sounding empty void. The words held little meaning, and they sounded empty as if prince has been on some medication to cause a blunt effect. The composition was nice, I heard several musicial itmes that harked backward toward emancipation days.

I like it. It would make a nice album track. Sounds far more free and natrual then the overproduced 'Greatest Romance', but not as inspired as 'God Created Woman'. Damn, to hear something like that from him again...

mushy

I think the reason for the disappointment is that it's a lead off single. Doesn't make the desired impression to be the first single, but then i suppose we don't know what's on the album.

I think that the instruments levels are not well mixed, ex: to high volume flutes.

The arrangments are great, very subtle and the harmony of the song is great too, the strings.

But what worries me more is the lack of interesting melodies, in this aspect his new songs pales when compared to his early work, he coudl compensate that with a more musican-oriented sound, with more solos and improvisations, IMO. But overall it is good.
