the last thing i'll post about the new song/video the song is nice. its not special. its not interesting. it's nice in the same way a second glass of wine is nice; you've had it before and there's nothing surprising or unexpected. i don't mean this in a malicious way. sometimes unexpected and nice is good. it is certainly better than a dislike or dissatisfaction, that's for sure.
i can't (and don't) always expect prince to drop a SOTT or a lovesexy or a rainbow children on us. and i pray he never again drops a newpowersoul on us.  at the same time, i always hope that when he recycles some previously recorded material that he at least does it as good as he did the first time. my personal opinion is that this does not live up to prince's potential. it may as well be a song on santana's newest cd with prince standing in for vocals. i kept asking myself (and even my mother called me to ask), "where's prince in all of this?"
honestly, i would never have watched the whole video or listened to the entire song if it was anyone other than p. he always gets the benefit of being prince; i'll always give his stuff a good chance. if this were anyone else i would have skipped to another channel within 20 seconds. really. it's just that lacklustre in my opinion. don't hate on me for this post. don't flame me. we can all have our own opinions on the man and his music. i was one of the people who thoroughly enjoyed musicology AND rainbow children, so i'm certainly not waiting for prince to return to any specific style or sound. in the end it's only one song. there have been others i didn't like, this is nothing new (albeit rare). the forthcoming record may be incredible and may display a wide array of styles, this single being but one of them. i'd welcome that. heck, i welcome this. i may not like it too much but it's still nice to see the ol' guy back in videos! | |

I can respect you views because not everyone is going to like everything. I personally didn't care for TRC and still don't except for one or two songs that have grown on me. Everyone is entitled to their opinion that is at least until their postings becomes redundant bores. | |
