Does anyone know the story on this? I just keep getting bits and pieces. I know he was supposed to do a documentary of some sort for Prince and things went wrong. What were the things that went wrong. Why is Chaka Khan mad at him?

Before you start with the criticism; yes, I'm nosey. NO, I have no life and that IS why i wanna know Prince's personal business. and don't act like you don't wanna know, too.

After the DVD came out, Prince’s producer called Kevin Smith, and she was like "I can’t believe u named me, by name!" Kevin Smith said, "Did u get in trouble?" She said "I left there, but I was getting frantic calls, and I had 2 go in 2 meet Prince. Prince was like "where was his non-disclosure agreement?" They had given Kevin Smith one 2 sign, but he put it down like "I’ll get 2 it later". He forgot, and didn’t sign it. She said "Prince was really fuckin' mad about it. He wanted 2 sue u, but he found out u didn’t sign the agreement," so Kevin Smith was like "right on, good 4 me." It went around Paisley Park 4 a year, from employee 2 employee, like "u need to see this, he fuckin’ nailed him." Then Prince was interviewed in Entertainment Weekly, when Musicology came out, and the author of the piece called Kevin Smith up. "Prince talked about Jersey Girl." And Kevin Smith is still like a fan, so he said "Prince talked about me? Did he love it?" "No. He went out of his way 2 talk about it. He said he saw Jersey Girl, and he just didn’t like it. He said, "I guess that’s what happens when the potty mouth don’t work 4 u no mo," that’s what he said." There’s another DVD, Evening with Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder, where Kevin Smith talks about him again.

I watched it last month on Showtime or one of those stations.
I like the part when Kevin Smith tells Prince's producer he doesn't want to do the film & the producer says that no one says no to Prince so why doesn't Kevin go in & tell Prince. So Kevin goes in to tell Prince no & ends up doing the filming afterall.

Kevin Smith wanted to use a Prince song in one of his productions, so Kevin calls Prince. Prince returns Kevin's call. Prince says no to use of song but expresses intrest in Kevin helping him with an Idea. Prince wanted to make a "spiritual" video at the Park with a bunch of fans. The Park Fams are a bunch of fools and don't know shit. Several Hours of video was shot where people tryed leading these fams down a discusion about spiritual matters. The whole thing ends up being a big disapointment for prince.

However the side note is several little stories kevin tells about the "Purple One", his life styles, his behaviors, his place and people and himself. Very worth a watch.

Why would Prince even have a problem with the story that Kevin told us? I think he might just be upset because he did not give Kevin permission. Sounds like a control thing. Honestly the story was not gossipy or tabloidish at all. I see nothing wrong with it. Just one man's experience working with Prince.

Prince truly is an ass. All Kevin did was point it out, and it wasn't like Kevin had a vendetta about it-someone in the audience asked him to describe his experience at Paisley Park, so he did--what transpired during the answer left me in tears and gasping for breath. Funny stuff.
