He has issues about his height relating 2 being respected by others. Prince never seems timid at all with a shy, bashful demure 2 me. Shy and bashful suggests lack self-consciousness in the presence of others.
Hey, I'm just taking words at face value. If someone was talking to me about someone else and mentioned they were "quiet around strangers", I really wouldn't have to read too much into that to come up with 'shy'. ...and you don't think that "issues about his height relating 2 being respected by others" has something to do with self-confidence? If we can agree that having 'self-confidence' is 'a feeling of trust in one's abilities, qualities, and judgment' then I'd say that being insecure about your height (a quality) shows a lack of same in that area. He can be super confident about his judgment and still have self-confidence issues about his height. Which obviously he does (or at least DID) given the high heels. You didn't really think that statement that "the girls like 'em" was the whole story, did you?

Yes I guess he is shy really. I think it's just very ironic that for such a shy person he is the most outrageous on stage etc.
To be honest I think that's why I've always related to him. I can be shy until I get to know people and then....it's difficult to get me to shut-up. Also it makes me smile that he is so shy publicly yet can write the most personal heart-wrenching songs. It's like this is what I want to say so I'll say it in a song! Also Prince seems to come across as someone who likes to think carefully about what he says. Even a small song like "Nothing Compares 2 U" seems to have every word chosen really carefully. I do agree that it is about control. But probably more to control himself rather than others. Maybe he doesn't want to say anything flipantly and regret it. Shut up already, damn.
