TAC is so-so, but I am excited now

Could Prince be steering in a Parade direction!!!!

I would dig that.

I absolute love the fact that he stated TAC is not a reflection of what the rest of the album sounds like.

Of course, by now I'm expecting the rest of the album to sound like Musicology with a slower tempo. neutral

tempo edit. shrug

So true. That bitch lies about everything. I bet if he was asked if he dyed his hair, he'd so "no". lol

For some reason I think it's funny that the acronym for the song title is already being used. smile

Anyhow, I love the song. It's very sublime and I appreciate the restraint in his vocals and the guitar solo. Perhaps it will be a hit as well. After all, Norah Jones certainly found a market for her music which is also very adult and laid-back. Besides, people over 40 need music to get their groove on too!

Although TAC does remind me of Parade, which is one of my favorite albums, I doubt that the rest of 3121 will be in that vein. I'm anxious to find out though!

That is a dumb question, but I think you missed the point entirely.

It doesn't matter what the question is. Prince is not likely to give you a straight answer.

For example, he uses this stupid gun-microphone, something that he adopted when he was taking on the whole Gansta Rap (LOL--Prince's version of it anyways) thing with Sexy MF and Pussy Control, etc.

The question was posed, "Why do you use a violent symbol like a gun?" on NPGMC. His response was something along the lines of "the words of peace spoken into the mic nullify it's negativity (I don't remember the exact words, but it was in that spirit). A bullshit answer. Obviously, Prince integrating rap genre symbolism in his act.

But again, the point is he just doesn't tell the truth when interviewed. It's never been important to him that he be straight forward with the audience.

Hmmm...I have heard a few people call this a return to the Parade period, but I don't quite hear it. What about the song, if I may ask, gives you this impression?

That's fair enough. But it's a free world for us fans too, and if he's gonna bullshit, we're free to call him on it.

If more people questioned bullshit, Bush wouldn't be president.

What was the point behind your questioning of me? confuse

He's an awesome vocalist.
TAC sucks. I love the song, don't get me wrong, but that's becuase I'm been diggin the latin vibe. But the song actually sucks.

But you're basically talking out your ass at this point. lol
I can see this conversation isn't going to spawn any any understanding of people's point of view. And what's with this Michael Moore stuff? Even republicans are questioning Bush. falloff

when there's no reason to rebel... there's a true sign of a wise person

i know it's popular to say question authors, yea question them and yourself

but just coz god don't answer your prayers shouldn't make you less grateful

neutral

i'm agnostic, so i don't really pray.

how can you possibly believe that blindly following whatever you're told is right? i didn't say rebel- i said question. vastly different things.

Wow, this thread has gotten a little off topic wink

In reply, though, to your question: Prince hasn't used the combination of instruments as he does in TAC (and I am sure he probably composed for it) since Parade. Closest was SOTT, but that was funkier. Also, his vocals have left the 'repeat the title' thing he does for the first phrase and then go through the motions.

If I had my choice of the two, I would hope for an SOTT sound, but Parade was damn good and better than anything beyond the 90s. It definately didn't have an 80s sound. I wouldn't say it was ahead of its time, but somewhere not in time. It was an enigma.

Prince just left the experimental period for some reason. Most likely riches and fame uninspired him. Thus, I am excited that the song, even as poor a choice for a 1st single, brings Prince back to the time he was experimenting in a sense.

and i said be grateful, life is best played/spent by not rebelling....

i believe when you don't do questioning you learn best, the way children learn, they don't question, they "blindly follow" and if you you're here to learn then that's best way
