Will Prince signing with Universal affect his club members? I doubt the NPGMC will make money from the download of the new song since it's already been everywhere else. And, since Universal probably don't give a hoot about the NPGMC and it's members, are we to assume the club will be the last place for us to find "official" news and information on upcoming Prince music?
I am wondering if this signing will also have an effect on the future sales of concert tickets. Of course the PPs might say, "NO" it won't have an affect, but you know how that goes?!

The PPs are full of Poopoo? News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

It's difficult to know without knowing the details of the contract. Despite the wording of it being a 'recording contract' I still reckon it will be just a distribution deal, like with Musicology and Sony, where they make money off units sold in stores and the like, but the rest belongs to Prince. I do not think it is not like the Warners days, where they paid him an advance to create albums for them they could then sell, I think Prince created this album first and then decided on a record company he could work with after.
The NPGMC will not make money from, say, Itunes sales, but of course Prince will, whether Universal get a piece of that action, I do not know. Concerts are usually under the sole control of the artist. Sony's involvement last year did not prevent club members getting good seats on the Musicology tour, did it? So I can't imagine it will have an impact this time either.

i think the new relationship prince has with universal is having an effect on NPGMC (and it's probably an effect we've been experiencing for quite some time now, if we knew the whole story), though i'm at the very least HOPING that the club will find some kind of balance once he's able to stretch his legs in the new record deal - i'm sure universal will work with prince to throw some crumbs at the music club at the very least...that is, if NPGMC is still a priority to prince...

the NPG fanpimping and JW's recruitment center Music Club is a Failed experment.
I think prince and the buisness world is begining to reconize it. Please shut the doors before they crash and are left with no place to go but here. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.

I was banned from the keven smith messageboard because I called Jay and Bob strikes back a boxoffice flop. And I am unclear about the meaning of specious and myopic. I assume it like general wide reaching and basic bland. It's a intresting and fitting enough quote, but I am uninpressed by wisdom comming from puddgy, Kevin Smith. Maybe we'll see a similar boom like the one that followed Musicology's release. It's possible that he just wants to release stuff whenever an album drops, just to generate excitement for the disc and tour. Personally, I think he should be taking full advantage of the club's capabilities and dropping vault tracks, live recordings and what-not every month, but he has chosen to bypass this. Of course, if he did, there would still be major bitching every month, so perhaps that is why he doesn't bother. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)
