This is a most interesting song. It mixes a more mature jazzy sound with the old 80s-style sensual Prince-synth-strings, like only Prince can do. The lyrics are hesitant, but very, very honest. The only thing that I wish Prince would do is learn how to inflect the Spanish dialogue. It's just three words, so they don't take a whole lot of practice, esp. since his first wife was Latina, too, eh?
Overall, I think there's an undercurrent in the song that, if the people still know how to catch, they'll ride the single until the first bootie-shaker comes out, which will take care of things from then. You rock, Prince. | |
