Give the man a chance For pete's sake...wait until you hear the whole album before you judge Prince.
I challenge anyone here to name another artist who's had commercial success on every single album. tick..tick..tick..times up. Can't do it. okay, the Beatles. Madonna went through a period..perhaps she's still having her period. Michael..well..lets not go there The Stones..had a rough patch, but Bigger Bang is a good album The Who had their moments Elton John The Eagles on and on and on.. Noone knows what it's like to be in Prince's shoes but him. He's a musical genius on a par with Mozart. Let's celebrate the fact that we live in his lifetime to appreciate his genius. No offense was intended..in light of the passing of Richard Pryor, I was feeling "jiggy" with it and wanted to be down with the vibe. how about if I rephrase it, Give the man a chance

People are gonna be how people are gonna be.
Prince had his biggest year in the USA since Purple Rain in 2004, and people still bitched. "New Power slide...."

Nothing like the whiff of new music to get an org war started.

Nah, I say down with Prince. Democracy in action, assumed guilty until proven guilty!
Only joking! There's no way we can tell what a whole album is going to sound like from one song, especially Prince who usually has such varied styles on a single album. Still, from reading posts, I think the very small snippet of 'Corazon' hasn't really inspired the majority of people on here too much. If you assume Prince would put out one of the strongest tracks from the new album, it's not a particularly hopeful indicator for the rest, it hasn't really whetted the appetite like a first track should. Imagine if the small snippet had been Prince doing a rock guitar solo, or Prince behind the drums putting down a funky beat, people would instead be drooling for the new album I reckon. Like I said on another post, maybe the monetary success of the Musicology tour has given Prince a chance to experiment or follow his muse more in-depth. Not having heard the whole album, I don't know that for sure, but it doesn't seem like he's aiming for a sure fire chart hit. I, for one, am excited to hear the WHOLE song and the album.
And to those who wish for the Prince of old, the one in the bikini drawers, raincoat and swearing like there's no tomorrow, grow up. If you want to see an older performer constantly trying to prove their sexiness, I'm sure Madonna will gladly wrap her legs around her neck to prove she's still got it. Thankfully, Prince doesn't have to try that hard. I have a feeling that musically, this album will be brilliant. And no gimmicks will be needed.

Can't do it. okay, the First prince has hardly had a "commercial success " on a number of albums... and Billy Joel has a great track... in fact am sure he has sold more ablums that prince... and Billy has far fewer albums

also hasn't Garth Brooks sold more albums that prince? if not certinly more per ablum... but then again i have never bought a Garth album and only bought 2 Billy CDs for my brother.

If you think its crazy over here go to okayplayer.com...They have 30 seconds of the track up and they are creaming it...But like one person said on a post over there: Prince is approaching damn near 50...anything the man does from here on out is just gravy...You can't expect the dude to be rude boy no. 1...there are other artists on the scene to wet your rebellious appetite...Trust me, Prince won't get mad if you listen to them... I have only one approach----Dig the music, Jam at the Tour stops, and eat, drink, and be merry.
