Prince and Todays Producers

?Just thinking out loud. I'm imagining what the music would sound like if Prince worked with some of todays hot producers.

Imagine tracks with Prince and Dr Dre, or Prince with Timbaland. Imagine Prince doing something with Outcast or The Neptunes, Jam & Lewis, Teddy Riley, or even Willam Orbit.

Expand Your Minds.

Who do you think would be an interesting producer for Prince to work with?

Wouldn't Prince and Jam & Lewis be a redundant collaboration?
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

William Orbit remixed "The Future" and "Electric Chair", and didn't do a half bad job of it, either.

I'd love to hear what Nellee Hooper would do to a Prince album. I won't even invoke the name of the great E-N-O, though the idea isn't as inappropriate as it sounds...

i think Tchad Blake would do a great job stripping Prince of his cluttered arrangment style and overdubbing...

and I love Blake's views on binary sounds...not that i fully understand what it is in the first place...

As much as I love and respect the likes of Dr. Dre, Timbaland, and the Neps... I cringe at the thought of Prince becoming produced... a "product". I enjoyed past collaborations ie. with Angie Stone, or the ones on Rave Un2 [1999]... but I think it makes more sense to combine VOCALISTS/LYRICISTS (Mary J Blige, Mariah Carey) with these "hot" producers, and Prince is so much more than just a vocalist.

Thank God!!! Prince would never listen to idiotic suggestions that he work with producers, especially Dr. Dre

Hello all,

How about some Philly producers like James Poyser, Andre & Vidal, the Roots Crew, Jazzy Jeff, Eddie Hustle, etc??

MJ did it and Butterflies was the result!!

Usher worked with Eddie Hustle and Hustlechild and "U remind me" was the result! (Jam and Lewis only did part of the music and none of the songwriting!)

Prince working in Philly would be great!!

A lot of y'all think the I meant for the other producers to take over and just shove a joint at prince.

Nope

I am talking about a collabo, but not one where Prince just takes over. I think that it would be interesting to hear what the results would be if he worked with some of these cats the he has influenced. The philly soul producers and Prince would be the bomb. Dre and his Dark sounding tracks merged with Prince would be phat. Check out the Neptunes when they took 'Nasty Girls' and moded it with their sound for Brittany. Nice cut, even if it's a bit redundant in the beat.

As for Prince and other singers, I never really felt most of that stuff. It just comes out sounding like Prince most of the time.

All you purists need to open your minds. Music is liquid. Some of the best cuts some out of experimentation. As Prince fans, you should know that.

i LOOVVEE The Future remix. I think the Electric Chair one is just horrible. So much more couldve been done with that song.

Nellee Hooper and Prince together would be OUTRAGEOUS!!!

I can only see Prince seeking collaboration with any of the producers above, if he wanted to regain some commercial attention. So, in other words I doubt it seriously. Some people I would love to be see him do songs along with;

OutKast
Missy Elliot
Jill Scott
Musiq (those going to the Celeb. are lucky sad)
Remy Shand
Glenn Lewis
The Roots
Mos Def
Common
Erykah Badu
Cee-Lo
I guess I'm saying mostly Conscious 'Neo-Soul artist'

You ever notice reading the threads, that some people have nothing but negative things to say? May be it's just me. I'll leave it alone
