i'm glad we don't have to agree, because i sure don't.
come is one of my favorite prince albums. it's dark, experimental, unpredictable, complex...everything i like in a prince album is there. it's not an 'instant gratification' album. it has to grow on you. and when it does, you'll 'get it'.

Exactly the same for me! IMO the best P release in the 90's along with TGE.

chaos and disorder was a really bad album.
the album "come" was a very good album, it was the funeral of his name prince before he went to that sign check it out 1954- 1994. it's not his greatest but it's not his worst!

'Come' is a superb album.
As a whole it sounds like nothing Prince has ever released. From that point alone, it is worthy of serious consideration. On what other albums do you hear the raw emotional honesty of songs like 'Papa' and 'Solo'? The sexual darkness of 'Pheromone'? The gorgeous blues of 'Dark'? Those beautiful, touching harps at the songs close?

. I gotta join the club and say I LOVE this album too. I liked every song from the start (EXCEPT SOLO ) but even that crap is forgivable. What isn't forgivable, is the fact that this album is FAR too short If you will, so will I

LOVE this album. It is definitely one of my favorites and most-played. I agree, it grows on you, and you a have to really listen to it, instead of letting it play in the background... Don't be shy, this won't hurt a bit
Unless of course U don't believe in it

I think some people really let the whole 'feud with WB' and 'Slave' thing get in the way of enjoying Come and C&D.

Come is an excellent album, but you need to give it some time .
For the record i believe Pheromone to be one of his best songs of the 90's Live4Love

Agreed. exactly. the only argument for not liking it is usually "it's contractual obligation..filler" the only album that was compiled of left overs is 1999s "The Vault...Old Friends 4 Sale" and even that sounds a whole world away from just contractual obligation, it's got a true album feel to it imo. and a millions times more so do "Come" and "C&D". These are not just a bunch of poor songs thrown onto a disc 4 the sole purpose of delivering an album to WB. but regardless of that, people will always keep yapping about it being contractual obligation albums and there4 a bunch of crap. yet tell me this isn't every single album ever released under contract a "contractual obligation"? sheesh. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

The track 'come' is a minor masterpiece in my opinion. The horns arrangement alone is just pure magic. And the bells at the beginning remind me of interstellar space by john coltrane. I'm testing postive 4 the funk

Come is pretty good, nothing earth shattering, but its dark and sexy! Did you order a pizza ma'am? Prince- UTCM

Come is a good solid album, but imo opinion it could do without Papa and Orgasm, two tracks I find to be damn near unlistenable. Also, The Beautiful Experience version of the title track is vastly superior to the album version.

somebody on this site has to agree not everybody likes this album like they would like purple rain lovesexy was even better than this album Come, Chaos n Disorder is subpar Prince material. It gets heralded due to the releases being deep album cut material and not overblown. yet, even Prince knew this was not of his caliber material.

"Come" and "Space" are two of Princes most jazzy and eclectic tracks. No it's not funk, it's not rock, but IT IS 100% Prince. True genius at work. "Papa" is entertaining Storytelling; something that very few songs do now days. "Race", "Loose" and "Pheromone" could have remained as out takes; but "Letitgo" is the R&B track we so desperately needed from Prince at that time. "Solo" is that haunting and dark side of Prince we hadn't seen since "Others here with us" (And some of us really wanted to see that side again "Dark" was a typical Prince ballad; been there done that, nothing at all to brag about. For a 10 track album it's really not that bad. It isn't great, but it's not THE WORST. "Chaos and Disorder" IS THE WORST and "The Gold Experience" kinda comes close. I cosign with the other peeps who say give the album a chance it may grow on you.
I can remember paying $140 to see Prince perform at The Palladium in NYC around this time (Yeah that's show with Lenny Kravitz and the spray paint, which is available on bootleg VHS and DVD); and I HATED the entire set! I just felt that he was in a dark place and it was quite apparent in his music and mannerism. But Prince is an artist and this is how he chose to express himself. So yeah, I felt screwed outta $140, and knew in advance that I probably wouldn't like his new album. But looking back; I think about what he was going through with Warner Brothers, his band etc. And I'm kinda thankful for "Come", "Gold", and even "Chaos and Disorder"; because they are all little windows into Prince and where he was at these various points of his life. I realize that as an artist, every album ISN'T for the fans. Sometimes a brother just wants to express himself. Try listening to "Come" in a different light, a little bit darker of a place...you just might be able to enjoy/appreciate it that way. My name is Prince and I want your money

The originator of this thread should resign now, Come is a greta album, I started a thread for appreciation of this fine album. Obvoiouslt they like pop rather than the soulful rootsy masterpiece it is. With the exception of sols, the album is one of his darkest yet most playful. The horns are mesemerising. Come is as jazzy as it gets and Dark his finest soul singing along with Adore. Prince was at an erractic stage at this time, bur Come was his best original album since Lovesexy. It would not be matched until Gold and selected Emancipation jams.
THIS IS THE DAWNING OF A NEW SPIRITUAL REVOLUTION!!! 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

not necessarily my opinion but a funny quote to share

I would not call it "a piece of shit", but if I have to vote for Mr. Purples worst album, Come is definitely one of the No. 1 candidates imo. This record also could've been called "I just do that to fulfill the contract I've signed 2 years ago and got tired of just a few months later". It's a dust collector in my CD collection, to be honest.
Come - Great song, I prefer that version over the "electronic" one, good horns. But apparently, the only reason for making it that long is to get some minutes for the album. Dark is o.k., nice soulful tune, Letitgo is not bad, though not a really strong single, and anyone who ever complained about Emancipation-style production might explain to me how he or she can like that track as it is clearly synthi-made R'n'B. Solo and Orgasm can be omitted and are just there to end up with 10 songs imo. The rest is, more or less, filler. So, what we have here, is an album with only 8 real songs, one cool title track blown up to 11 min. or so, two or eventually three o.k. songs and the forgetabble rest. But I might give it a spin again and discover that it actually is a brilliant record. You never know with P.
