Madonna seems to be churning out the same stuff over and over again, clinging on to her image for dear life but now unable to take her clothes off to help her.

I genuinely believe if Prince had made the same sort of stuff from Purple Rain onwards he'd have completely vanished by now.

I disagree with your assessment about Madonna.For the most part,her recent albums are distinctive.She's come a long way from her 80s sound.

Prince and Madonna, who is the most fucked out of that pair is a real close race.

My take on it:

Prince- legendary as a musical genius and is viewed as a genuine artist. Yes, he is enigmatic, horny,spiritual, and eccentirc. But he is finally getting props for being arguably the most well rounded/versatile and creative musician in the game. Not necessarily the best selling, or the biggest favorite, but always unique to himself. He is viewed as being an original and a true artist.

Madonna- More famous for her fame, than her music. If Elvis and Marilyn Monroe had a kid, it be Madonna. Much more important in terms of pop culture than she is in terms of music. Pushed the boundaries for female artists-and did it on her own terms.

MJ- the Elvis Presley of his generation. As famous as a man can be and all the shit that goes with it. MJ is in his "fat Elvis" phase now. I think he'll be remembered much how folks remember Elvis. Mostly for his artistry, but with the caricature still in the mind.

All I am saying is that MJ's cultural and musical contributions are just as big/important as Elvis's. He is just as famous, and just as tragic. Obviously, you are biased towards Elvis, and that's fine. MJ and Elvis are comparable in terms of fame, popularity, eccentricity,cultural impact, musical contribution, talent, and tragedy.
