3 chains 'o gold-the movie

Ok I know there has got to be some fans out there who liked this? Where are you? I love this whole story line. Everyone really seems to hate this prince era. Why? I thought the music was great and I loved that Prince made a story to it like beautiful princess Mayte meets Prince, they fall in love, they break up, they miss eachother, they get back together.....I think it was great how Prince intergrated the album, tour and a little video collection all under this backdrop. But I love Mayte so maybe that is why. biggrin

Well, I suppose I loved it at the time. It was cool to see videos to most of the songs although I remember being disappointed that "And God Created Woman" and "3 Chains of Gold" weren't featured.

I was particularly upset about the latter. I mean, it was listed on the box and it's the title of the whole thing for God's sake!!

lol I knew you would see it that way Zel! highfive I think alot of people don't like it because they were so anti-Mayte. That is so stupid! God women are such haters! Remember that sceane with that woman and Tony M talking about Mayte at dinner? She was just kinda snide and like "Oh what does she contirbute?" If they opened their eyes they could see that Mayte was awsome and she inspired Prince alot. Inspired him to use alot of arabic sounding music...gave him an appreciaton for bellydance...opened his mind to diffrent cultures...Mayte was totally underrated.

That is why Mayte was with Prince and that lady was stuck with Tony M. Ha ha. biggrin

I agree with you ladies

An excellent video collection which told the story of the symbol album better than the album did! The album is still one of my favourites.

How can anyone not adore Mayte. [drools].

I still watch this video now and again even now - mainly to watch The Morning Papers.

It's a shame that the videos to My Name is Prince, Sexy MF, Love 2 the 9s, Bluelight etc. were cut short. I do believe the original version was to be a 90m tape but WB released only 75m of it.

I have only had a chance to see the some of the videos which I think were some of the best he ever did. I can't get a copy of the whole movie since it is out of print. I think the whole concept was great and so is the CD.

A lot of people hate on it because it P in full RnB mode and lot's of people on this board are not RnB fans.

Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

You're exactly right. There was a string version of "3 Chains of Gold", which was little more than a tease mad

After Graffiti Bridge, Prince made another movie? I don't know if I want to see it or not. 3 Chains O' Gold, was it released on dvd or was it only available to NPGMC members?

Ummm well it was actually more like a video collection with a story inbetween. Kinda like Sign of the Times movie. It came out only on VHS in 1994 and now it is out of print. But you can try amazon. com or ebay and see if anyone is selling their copy.

It's a fun little movie if you want to call it that. The acting is terrible, but the songs are great and there's some humour in it too. Mayte looks gorgeous and Prince looks his usually beautiful self too. I wish they had've done complete versions of each song though.

i bought it a few weeks ago on ebay and really dug it. The only thing i didn't like was the phrasing. For instance, it shouldn't be called a "movie". There was really no cohesive plot (story line). It was a nice collage of the videos from that album.
How can I live 4 love? I'm calling!!!

I like the Arabian vibe! I wonder if the clips of the belly dancing little girl were actually Mayte?

u know, its so random but is strictly for prince fans as it is very pretentious.

But the prison scene still cracks me up. "we arint going no where, we're staying right here". Who knew paisley had its own prison cell? So thats where damon dickson went!!! No doubt after he took 54 takes to say "a'ight lets do this" on the "sexy mf" clip. Prince forget to give him food, and well.....
