What's your best Prince Story?

Here's mine. This shit is too true. Believe what you want.

I use to love chatting in the holy river. I always loved chatting with special people like those attracted to the prince intrnet stuff. One time I was in the holy river talking about music. One nameless chatter was very intrested in what I had to say. We talked in wisper for like 45 minutes. I was telling them I believed in music and that it could be studied. I didn't mean studied as in learning, but scientificly studied as in to cause and effect into the human condition. We were arguing the points, and I mean exchanging ideas. All of a sudden it was as if the light came on for this person about what I had been saying. He got very excited about the idea of Music as a Science. He excused himself and told me there was something he needed do. I never did see that chatter again. That ever changing name had disappeared. However, about a year and a half later Prince broke his new albume. it's name was Musicology.

all true. believe it or not. wink
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

I wouldn't say that in context to prince's albume by that name. And the song Musicology has no real dept into the ideals of a science of music that I was talking about. I did find it a little shocking however. I am still crankin away at my theories.

Well, this interests me as well. There are, you know, Madonna-ologists in academe, and I've been wondering whether to call those who study Prince (a fledgling field, to say the least smile ) "Prince-ologists" or "Musicologists"... what do you think?

I think your pulling my leg. I have more stories to share. Only time will tell if I do or don't. My stories have an unbelievability factor, that I can accept clearly, but unless standing in my shoes I couldn't expect others to understand. I just wanted to open this thread to see if others would share stories, to see if it would be lock ed and or what not.

I am not at all pulling your leg. In another year, I plan to start a doctoral dissertation on the subject of the New Romantics. I wrote about Prince and Madonna last year.

yes, but being that stories like mine, no mater to their truth or depth, are just hear say and what not, nothing can be proven. Sure enough prince isn't saying, nor would he or should he, a word to conferm or deny clames. Anyone else who might know the truth of such matters are lock with a signature. wink

Ya know, I didn't say a word about the veracity of your story. I only asked you what you thought about use of the term Prince-ologist vs. Musicologist. shrug

it's all good brother, no harm no foul, it's all love here. I can't say I like the term musicologist for the study of "prince" because the name doesn't effectivly discribe the study. So the answer would have to be the other, that is also a little strange, but good enough lable to call the topic matter.

Peace.

I rather like "musicology" because "prince-ology" makes it sound as if one is studying princes in general, rather than the artist known/formerly known as Prince.

Prince-ology or "prince-ology?" in print, it's different edit... when spoken, we don't see the capitals...

Hi Mick

Before you got sidetracked, I think you were trying to get some anecdotes from people who have had actual Prince encounters, am I correct?

I enjoy hearing these stories as well. You mentioned that you have more?

Do tell. biggrin
