ever notice.... ...that in damn near every article on the Lil Man, the reporter feels the need to wax poetic about Prince's ohmygoodgracious! PURDINESS?
Sometimes it's a commentary on his cute shoes, or a description of his outfit or jewelry, but more often than not it's his body the reporter chooses to detail. Doesn't matter what the person interviewing him is -guy, girl, gay, straight, other. His big ol' doe eyes get a lot of attention, as does his hair and sometimes his mouth or ass. I remember one article in particular, where Prince had leaned over to touch the reporter's arm to emphasize a point -and the guy wrote up a full paragraph on how soft and warm his hands are, and what a perfect manicure he had. C'mon. I know Prince is pretty -that's not exactly a secret. But why the fixation all across the gender and sexual board? Are people really that amazed at his appearance? The only other time I've ever seen articles go into such glowing detail about the subject's looks is when the person in question is a woman. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Please refer to Jamie Fox's stand up show " I Might Need Security!" I think he articulates what it feels like seeing Prince up close and personal best!

Prince is truly fascinating to look at. It must be twice the joy to meet him in person. [Edited 12/8/05 11:46am]

It being mentioned how pretty he is is probably second only to him being called something in reference to him being small.
"Over-sexed elf" etc. I'm firmly planted in denial

"Over-sexed elf" etc. There's that too. Some of the references to his height are pretty funny, but they're mostly unnecessary. We already know he's a little guy! "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

Unless the new meaning for articulate is "to stutter and stammer and awkwardly explain your desire to fuck another man into the mattress", that's not the word I'd use. I wonder if Prince has heard Jamie's bit on him? I hope he had the sense to take it as a compliment. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

It's Prince, so get used to it. People will always rave over his appearance. Hell, even academy award winner Jamie Foxx did a comedy bit on it. You have to admit people calling you attractive is preferable to them calling you ugly.

From his perspective, I can see how a big down-side to everyone saying that to you is that you have nowhere to go but down.
How would you feel to be the person that used to be so extraordinarily pretty? I mean, he is definitely the original metrosexual and everything... but when you're trying to be all about the music (mostly) it's frustrating for people to focus on other things. But let's also have some sympathy for the reporters. How many times can you point out how much of a musical genius he is. There are more narrative possibilities from talking about what the reporter actually saw and experienced. Hence the focus on his appearance. Regarding the height thing, a lot of celebrities are a lot shorter than you think they are (David Bowie, Madonna). I saw Richard Gere on the street in NYC and I was surprised by his size. It's just that Prince is SO much smaller than most people. It would be weird not to mention it. Plus, die-hard fans who describe their experiences bring the size thing up all the time. I recall one person seeing the cardboard figure up on stage that was to represent him on stage for rehearsal and he could not get over how small it was. I'm just saying... Come here, babe.. yeah...

his height gets more mention than his prettiness, from what i've seen. his looks are put more into play on fansites than the media.

Maybe reporters would have more to write about than his height and looks if he actually let them record their interviews? Being used to having people pay that much attention to you; to treating you like you're the prettiest lil thing to ever cross their path, has got to eventually do something to your head.
