I believe that Prince is as confused about life as the rest of us are, hence the contradictions. I firmly believe this JW thing will be short-lived too. One day he will realize that just because one loves God, does not mean one has to be a JW or be a part of any other organized religion. We know that he often says very cryptic statements. Remember when he changed his name to the symbol and told everyone it was a message from God?? We all know now that it was strickly a business decision and had nothing to do with God at all. Prince is only human and he will always go through things like this.

Contradiction my prediction is that, is it really important where I take my naps? NO. People with a real mind will beep this out...

His biggest contradiction was writing My Name Is Prince then changing his name by the next album.

the reason i think it's interesting is because both songs were released on the same album- at the same time, in other words. and both are in the first person.

for what it's worth, i think that "letitgo"'s message is a serious one- prince really sounds like he wants to change and it's quite a painful song, a moving one, because of that earnestness. "space" on the other hand is more lightweight and playful, more meaningless...

i think these are the best 2 songs on the album, incidentally..

actually i hate U makes perfect sense to me... love and hate go hand inhand sometymes, therein lies the contradiction and irony.

Big deal. I still love his music and the man, contradicitons and all. Who among us has never contradicted themselves or been a hypocrite on some level?

I wonder what other examples people can come up with. "I Hate You" makes perfect sense to me also. I've been in love with certain women before and hated them for it, or hated the fact that I was in love with them. "LetItGo" is an amazing song. The whole album is better than it's given credit for.
