Prince - Purple Rain The stage show!!!!!! Found this on the web;
We chose to perform "Purple Rain" because the movie plot lends itself so well to the club we will be performing it in. With it's campy, 80's-era costumes and genius onstage musical performances by The Artist Formerly Known as Prince, "Purple Rain" creates a world of color, sound and style that will play out vividly and seamlessly on stage. And the nice part is, you don't have to be an actor to make this look good! The performers will act along with the movie soundtrack, creating a cool "stereo" effect along with the action onscreen. The biggest challenge for the performers will be memorizing their actions and dialog in the movie, which runs about 111 minutes. (Hey, we never said it would be easy!) There will also be about 20 minutes of pre-show games and music before the movie to warm up the crowd and energize the performers. We, the humble producers, have about 12 "Rocky Horror Picture Show" performances under our belt, (among other things) and we liked the concept of performing onstage under a movie. However, "Rocky" has been done so many times by so many casts that it was hard to find room to innovate. So, we chose a different rock-filled film to try this technique to, requiring us to formulate all-original blocking to make it work fluidly onstage. Performers will be encouraged to participate in their costuming and the creative process of making the movie come to life on stage. This will be a fun challenge for the right cast and crew, we hope you join us! Now assembling a fun, daring, sexy cast for live theatrical performance to Purple Rain, the movie. Be part of a live performance as the movie plays on a giant screen over the stage. To be performed at the Club Fab/River Theatre in Guerneville, Ca. to a 21+ crowd. (Most rehearsals will take place in Santa Rosa, Ca.) All interested dancers & performers please call (707) 573-8638 to schedule audition or email: melissazumsteg@gmail.com. I think it's a good idea, since early 80's P was obviously influenced by Rocky Horror, Tim Curry to be more specific. The music for the play is already there. If they have good actors to capture P's campiness, they'll be alright. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
