Its bloody good, the best thing about Bright Lights, Big City. Its funky, has a great bassline and inspired singing, recommended, I am waiting for some foul mouthed rap wannabe to cover it. 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

Achieves greatness for having Mahler jamming and for showing us mortals that when Prince is in London he gets to go to some magical place called "Picadilly Square". This is entirely what I expect of him.

I love this song! Wasn't it a Camille outtake? The whole Bright lights big city soundtrack was great. How can you argue with a compilation that has Prince, New Order, Depeche Mode and Bryan Ferry all on the same disc!!! Add "Pump up the volume" with it's Eric B and Rakim sample and you have perfection. One of the best sound tracks ever! Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

great song. love the imagery, as Elephants already said.
all the Camille tracks were so damn strong. if released in their original format, it would have made for one of his best albums ever. perhaps even the best. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I heard it on the radio back in '88 and got so excited. Then LS came out, and I went to the store and read through all the lyrics trying to find it, but it wasn't there!!!
For years I yearned (well, a year and a half), till I saw Bright Lights Big city on video - I was pretty bored, and at my uncle's house in Switzerland, when suddenly i jumped up and said, "There it is. It's that song! ican't believe it!" They all looked at me like I was insane, but you get a lot of that as a guest in Switzerland, so I wasn't really bothered. I then had to wait another 11 years (!!!!) to hear it again, after I bought CB at the first celly (I had ordered it online years before and been swindled!). Anyway, still love it! This is Paisley Park 4's absolutely favorite song of all time by Prince.
Period. I speak and speak and speak of this song so much..and still..I dont feel it gets it's credit. It is an absolutely powerful track and awesome.. Some info....it says in the book DMSR, Susannah and Jill Jones were giving eachother the evil eye while recording this track..as Prince was fuckin' round with both of em... Album plays and love for vinyl records.
