I agree with Krystal, Vanity 6 have a lot to answer for. I mean Prince wanted to call the group the hookers and Vanity was going to be called Vagina. 6 is the nipple count. This is ghetto ass Shamika shit if eva u saw it. Look at the album, every song is about sex.
3 x 2 =6, 3 girls, 6 breasts
Bite the Beat about Oral sex
Hes so dull a males lack of sex performance.
Nasty Girl, u know what shes being nasty about.
Make up, reconciliation sex
Drive me wild - self explanatory
Wet Dream - no comment
If a girl answers... No comment

Vanity 6 was lambasted by feminists on its release as extremely sexist and nilnilistic music back in the day. The girls had very little musical talent (Brenda had done some session work, Susan was an ex fling of Prince's, and Vanity was Denise Matthews an ex porno star). Prince wrote and played all the songs, the girls did vocals and photos, again cleaned up by Prince and directed by Prince. They were the start of his flirtation with people selected for looks rather than talent, ie who he was boning at the time.

These gals were the ancestors of the Sugarbabes!!!!
Lines like "I cant stand it, I need 7 inhes or more", did not help matters, the girls were so talentless that The Time had to play the music behind a curtain on the Triple Threat Tour.

In an essence "THEY WERE HOS" and My Humps is like the work of Gloria Steinem next to these girls.

IMO Vanity 6 gave us the illusion of sex, while today's group of that nature really go overboard in creating and acting on that image. You talk about those lines like, " I need 7 inches or more" while still risque is no where near as vulgar as what is done or said today.

Come on this is just pure fantasy talk. That's why it's so over the top.

And you guys seem to buy it everytime.

Really you think Prince is that shallow ? He's laughing at everyone who buys into this.
Shut up already, damn.

I'm not saying I dislike Vanity 6/Apollonia 6. Quite the contrary...I love the style and the songs are the JAMS...but lets not kid ourselves they were ment to turn guys on and I guess one could find the whole concept pretty sexist. Expecialy back then Prince knew that they were like softcore porn.

But I guess it was sexier back then because things were not so in your face. In my mind they were alot sexier than fifty video hoes massaging oil on some rapper in slow motion...I guess guys would find that sexier but for me I think the Sex Shooter video was way hotter...the girls getting up and doing a cute little sexy dance in lingere while the guys watched. biggrin

We make up excuses for our boy Prince, don't we?..But the truth is, he sparked some shit off..Having Vanity fuck herself on record with a Vibrator? Having sex with his sister? Cursing on record? If you don't think Prince's battles with the God's of censorship didn't have anything to do with the more liberal guidelines of today, you are clearly not looking hard enough...

I blame hip hop for the way R&B sucks today. The materlism and mysoginy (sp?) of hip hop seeped into R&B about 10 years ago and it's been the worse for it ever since.

ahhh new times... you can blame also video games
