TRC is absolutely nowhere near the brilliance of Lovesexy. The music may be different, even better by his ever-growing talent and age, but comes no where close to what makes the Lovesexy album work. The rainbow children is rightous in its own right. "TRC" is a story book of sorts that has some intresting real life tales in it. Lovesexy is more of a spiritual journy. Well put. I would agree with you here. TRC is great on it's own. I'm even impressed with "Last December" so much, that I would consider it one of his greatest written songs... but to put TRC in the same category or compare it to Lovesexy? No. Lovesexy Funkateer

I listened to Lovesexy a few nights ago for the first time in months and I must say it was one of the most rewarding listening experiences I've had in sometime. That album is so inspired and it has a unique sound. It also has great lyrics, and damn good musicianship. I never realized how good that album was before. I love all of the consensus favorites, but I would also like to add Dance On and Positivity to the list. The drumming on Dance On is ridiculously good and Positivity has a great lyrics, great social perspective, and some of the best vocal phrasing of Prince's career. The guitar work on Positivity is really good too, its just buried in the mix. [Edited 12/2/05 11:10am]

OMG. I love everything on this album from beginning to end.
I dig the whole vibe, the lyrics, metaphors, the spirituality. It's like he created it from some alternative dimension. Everything hits for me and the creations are not staid and expected, but very eclectic. It is so layered and open to analysis. I could study it for hours, months, years. Really lifts me into higher head space when I'm listening to it. And by the end (Positivity) it almost makes me cry. Love. It. All.

Why is Oprah so highly regarded by so many? Why do some people like onions? Why do some people find hunting a sport? Lovesexy is highly spiritual and upbeat and makes ya feel good. And it's an album that meshes well together, and has no nonsense on it. That's why! Hey no ! Lets not knock nonsense. It's truly under-rated ! I love this album. It one that has grown and grown on me and I now find myself defending it to the hilt ! I'll admit I never used to rave about it in the past. It was always Sign O' The Times this Dirty Mind that etc... Then I realised just how much I listened to it !! It's one that I usually put on for Alphabet Street or When 2 R In Love but then I would always listen to the complete album. I find it a real rambling/carnival style album with some great lines/lyrics etc.. Songs that seem to go on forever and songs that seem to be over too soon and songs that seem to go in all kinds of directions. I love I Wish U Heaven but I wish there was more to it. The same for Glam Slam. But these are ALL the reasons that I love it too. It's an album that requires a lot of listening. I especially love the album cover. I love it because when I show it too people (blokes mainly) they normally go 'Arrggghh..!!!' like they are really offended and I just think 'Open your mind. It's beautiful.' I think Prince really pushed the boundaries with that cover. To me it represents exposing yourself. Being honest etc.. [Edited 12/3/05 13:30pm] Shut up already, damn.

You just don't get it, do you Scott? It really boils down to timing. If you were there in 1988, caught the album, the videos, the TOUR!!! It all clicked and Prince was at his most creative high point ever. The clothes, the look, the attitude, the music, the lyrics, the Blue Angel, the heart mirror, the different shaped mirrors the band members wore, his name on his thigh... it was something only he could come up with. Yet at the same time, something he could never top. Some people "got it," understood it, and really appreciated the work for what it was. As one of those people, I don't understand how anyone can dislike it, or not say it's his best album, ever!!! Different strokes I guess. He's done some great stuff since then, but he will never be able to match the pinncale of his career, the greatest album ever recorded by anyone... Lovesexy. Aaaahhhh Yeeeesssss the BLUE ANGEL....!!! Good comment. It REALLY was only something He could come up with. I was there too and boy these people don't know if they don't like Lovesexy.. Shut up already, damn.

Might as well post this old poem (lyrics?), from a mutual friend : Dirty Mind dirtied my mind Controversy made me easy 1999 made me so fine And Purple Rain a bit vain Around the World broadened my world But by Parade I was a charade Sign O the Time I was on my last dime Then Lovesexy saved my life Lovesexy saved my life Kept me from losing my mind Now I don't waste my time Fighting over the last line

It really is a matter of perspective. I will tell you that when I first saw Lovesexy in the stores, I first of all didn't know there was a new Prince album out, so I was excited there. Then when I listened through the album and got to the song Dance On, I went hog wild. I had never heard such a song like that, and I am still fascinated by that song when I listen to it today. Over the months and years afterward, I just came to love that album. And when I would hear about the history of how this album came to be, and hearing the Black Album, it only cemented Lovesexy in my heart. But more than anything, there is a sense of freedom in Lovesexy that is only in that album.

I used to hate this album for some odd reason, now i find i play it more than ever.
I now got the tracked cd version, so that no longer bothers me, not like it ever did. I usually stick an album on from start to finish anyway [Edited 12/5/05 14:48pm]

Its allright, but not great, The first four tracks, Iwish u heaven and Positivity are great but the other three tracks are crap. I don't listen to it much as my CD has only one track, u can't say skip 2 Anna Stesia. Does anyone else have this problem? 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

It isn't a problem, it is design. The love sexy Cd is one long track. You can however rip it, and then save the songs sepratly. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.

Yep you either love is or hate it.
Or like a couple of tracks. It's grown on me a lot over the years. I think this was mainly due to it being one of the only tapes in my car (no CD Player...also before I got an iPod - but I digress) It's grown on me more and more over the years. Shut up already, damn.

I just listened to this CD yesterday and I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end!!! Most times I would have to listen to it on my computer, so I could scroll to the songs I wanted to hear, like: When 2 R in love, and Positivity and Wish You Heaven and Glam Slam. Now, though, I can listen to it from beginning to end with no problem. "The poets are demanding their pay..."
