Parade as a double Album

Does anyone think that by making Parade a single album Prince missed out on putting out one of his best albums. I know many fans think that it is one of his best, i find this album feels like a great project that slightly didn't come off.

Why oh why could he not include full length Mountains and Anotherlover... along with other unreleased stuff. This would have made the album one of my absolute favourites. Does anyone know what the double album tracklisting would have been??

After the album cam eout Prince said he felt like it was a rushed effort with Kiss being the only song he was really proud of. He said he didn´t have enough good material and he wouldn´t make the same mistake again...so I don´t know if a double album would have been such a great idea.

Maybe some of the critics who found this album perfect at that time wouldn´t have liked it that much if it had contained all those long 12 " versions. Sure, we dig them a lot but the not so hardcore fans and music critics might think differently.
Then again, there was a lot of already recorded material that was really tight that he could´ve used, like those Dream Factory songs or We Can Funk etc. but I think they didn´t fit in stylistically.
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I think that the extended versions really add to the whole atmosphere of the album (apart from the Kiss extended)!

Hey, a music page eye often go to, so to read reviews is www.allmusic.com, very good thoughts upon Parade , they also mention, that it would be maybe more complete if it was a double album, like SOTT.

Hehe, okay smile But eye ve read in some posts and some say they dont like parade, but eye really do!! Great music, love it, but as they say on allmusic, there's something missing, so the reason could be that maybe prince wasn't inspired to expand it, not enough good material? And maybe thats an obvious reason...

One of the things I've always liked about Parade is that it doesn't outstay its welcome - it comes in, does its job, entertains everyone, and then leaves. That's part of its charm. Besides, in this day and age, you can make your own extended version if you want to.

lol He had to say something to calm down angry record buyers that were expecting an entire album like "Kiss" and hope they would come back for another album. This was the second time he fucked them, but at least this time he gave them a .....(guitar intro sound) ....."Kiss".

I would have preferred Prince take a little more time after Purple Rain and combine the best of the ATWIAD and Parade material into one album. Something like...

ATWIAD
Paisley Park
Girls and Boys
Raspberry Beret
Mountains
America
KISS
Pop Life
Sometimes It Snows In April
Anotherloverholeinyohead
The Ladder

a very strong follow up to Purple Rain IMO.

Can we say ADD? lol

For the record, how glad are we that there was no such thing as Ritalin when Prince was younger? We'd have a lot less to talk about around here....

Not enough good material my behind! Prince could've easily added b-sides such as "Alexa de Paris" and "Love or $" and the unreleased "Old Friends 4 Sale".
Plus, the inclusion of "An Honest Man" (the instrumental version from the movie) would've made that album one of the best EVER!

thats true. my only slight very miniscule problem with parade is that some songs end tooo soon for me. i wonder u, venus de milo, under the cherry moon, do u lie seem like they should go on forever. other than that i love the album! and i wouldnt want it to be double. cuz if it was some songs would have to go. first off, we can funk would never fit. and if he added others here with us, old friends for sale then it they would've brough the album down a bit, and he also couldnt have added heaven cuz its TOOO happy and not really funky like kiss or anotherlover. if he added all my dreams it wouldn'tve fit the theme of the record (love gained and lost) girl of my dreams would be nice but the music doesnt fit.
Yesterday is dead...tomorrow hasnt arrived yet....i have just ONE day...
...And i'm gonna be groovy in it!
