After I finally got my classic Prince complete this days (For You - Lovesexy), I was doing some research on Wikipedia, and came across all those singles, B-sides, and 12inch mixes. I have got the Greatest Hits / BSides 3cd set as well, but the 12 Inch possiblities... uhm, kept me dreaming.

Furthermore I googled a bit, and came across several strange looking "albums", called:

Prince - 12 Inch Premium Vsoundso
Prince - 12 Inch Volume 1 1976-1988 (obviously a 4cd set)

Since I do not guess this is any near being "legal" or whatever, but what the hell is that, where does it come from?

there are all kinds of bootlegged collections of prince 12" singles on CD floating around - you probably just stumbled across mentions of some of 'em.

hm, thanks a lot for your answer. damn, i guess the chances seeing an official release are close to zero. goddamn!

there's a french compilation of minneapolis funk that has the long version of 'america' on it (yes, all 20+ minutes), and there are a few quickie import CD singles with some of the old 12" versions on them...that's about the closest to "official" releases on CD that i know of.

Get as many of the extended versions, remixes as possible. It is truly some of his funkiest shit!!!
