The B Sides CD Following on from another post about turds on each album ...
I consigned the B Sides CD to the 'hardly ever listen' pile a few years back. I dug it out last night to give it another try, but immediately remembered why I binned it the last time round. are you joking? it contains some of his best tunes ever. the only negative thing I can say about it is that these b-sides deserved to be released in their original format and not in edited form. even better would have been a double album including all the b-sides in total. Full versions of: She's always in my Hair Feel U Up Scarlet Pussy Shockadelica Hello Escape Another Lonely Christmas  and true love lives on lollipops and crisps | |

If only all of the b-sides had been included, in their full-length versions, then it would have been perfect. How anyone can call an album with "She's Always In My Hair" and "La, La, La, He, He, Hee" a "pile of steaming poo" is beyond me!

I bought the box set when it first came out, but I never listened to the B-sides. I just wasn't interested...then after many trips to Berlin's Prince Night (Chicago) I fell in love with 17 Days and asked my (then) boyfriend what song it was and where I could find it. He was like, "You have the cd, dumbass, it's on the B-sides."
After that I was hooked. There are a few I regularly skip, but overall they rock. I agree with the suggestions that ALL of them should be released in full-length. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp. | |
