Do U think Prince Should Do A VH1 Behind The Music

Do U think Prince should do a Behind The Music. Alot of things has went on in Prince's career of the past 27 years, and yet still VH1 didn't ask Prince to do one. They probably did, but knowin' Prince, he turned them down. Or maybe Bcuz Prince's career didn't have the tragedy, drugs, and violence. Mostly everybody in music had a VH1 Behind the Music, and mostly all the singers and musicains that had one their careers were in jeopardy. But rekindeld at the end. If Prince does one we can concentrate on the good rather than the bad since Prince rarely had any bad. Prince had the people wondering his sexuality, he had many women, the great success of the movie Purple Rain, the Name change prince, becoming a JW, and changing his name back. So VH1 Behind The Music material?
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

People don't want happy. That want cheating, jail, drugs and scandal. Prince doesn't really deliver on this, so I think to the general public it wouldn't be compulsive viewing.

But I'd personally love to see it!

i don't think Prince would make for a very informative or overly intriguing BHM. one of the reasons i enjoy those type of shows is to learn more about the artist's career, and more about them as a person, and see how the events of their life and their career affected and impacted the other. to portray that honestly and effectively, VH1 (or whomever would makes such a program...) need to have people who worked with that artist - or who interacted with them on whatever level - to speak freely and openly, and Prince doesn't seem to allow those who were very close to him do that. not about HIM, anyway.

i think a BTM show about Prince would only end up saying everything we already know about him, and not reveal anything new or fresh, so then...what's really the point of making the show? (and let me stress here i am NOT saying the show should be some kind of huge gossipfest with a bunch of ex-associates or ex-friends spouting off about his personal business. but SOME personal insight is necessary for a show like that and Prince goes to great pains to prevent that as much as he can)

i would imagine a BTM made about Prince would consists mainly of recapping the highlights of his career (obvious), discussing the whole WB and 'The Artist' situation, a brief reference to Mayte, some clips of people like Sheila or whomever is willing and allowed to speak saying how talented and awesome and incredible he is (we already know that). and then of course the requisite ending pointing out his new jazzier direction and how he's become a JW.

i dunno. the whole thing would, to me, in the end just be a show telling everyone what everyone already knows about him and his life and i don't see the point to that.

personally, i wish VH1 still was doing the Reuniting the Band series and i'd like to see them attempt to reunite Apollonia 6. that'd be cool. biggrin they'd have to track down Brenda and Susan, which in itself would be interesting...

Dunno about BTM, but I wish he'd make SOME kind of appearance so there could be threads about that instead of more rumors and fake tracklists! nod lol

nah, that series is kind of over. if he took part in something like that, it should be a documentary film or something with a bit more prestige.

yup, something like "all hail rock'n'roll" that was made about chuck berry (i think that was the title) or even an on-the-road flick like "rattle and hum". something with more substance than the usual vh1 fare.

actually he does if u believe what his associates have to say. i'd love to see one too, but like others have said - it wouldnt be very informative, if prince even got involved at all he'd probably give very little info, most likely the safe stuff. i dont expect him to be baring his naked soul anytime soon. it would be nice tho

I totally agree with everything you said. It would only be cool for those people who don't know alot about him. But for those fans who grew up reading about him and who have read biographies I can't see it being that exciting. Although I would love to hear about Mayte's perception on their marriage and what she has learned from him and how she has grown apart from him but she won't really talk about him anyway so....

...but an Apollonia 6 reuinion. OMG that would be so watchable!!!! biggrin

A project like that would only be interesting if Prince managed to be open and forthcoming for once. We already know the sanitized version of events; we've heard all the scripted questions; we've memorized his responses word for word as they rarely deviate from the carefully planned out image.

I'm not saying we need to hear every tiny little annoying detail a la the celebrity power couples. Mystery is good. But a bit of honesty and openness would be nice and might even provide fans a new perspective on certain albums or songs or even the man himself.

A "Behind the Music" with Prince would have to be several hours long. I see a miniseries...

My understanding is that VH1 approached Prince to do a BTM in '99, and he even went so far as to allow them to film some shots of him in concert and the studio, but he ultimately backed out.

I'd love to see one but, for it to be interesting, there would need to be no involvement from Prince. If Prince is involved, the show would consist of the same information we already know. In other words, only the things that Prince wants you to know.

For a really interesting show, they would need to interview people like Andre Cymone, Jesse Johnson, Dez Dickerson, Vanity, Paul Peterson, Morris Day, Mayte, Wendy and Lisa, etc. In other words, people that he has pissed off at one time or another in the past. The best dirt comes from someone that is bitter. Also, they could interview his siblings, school mates, groupies.....people that don't normally get interviewed. They could even just show their shadow and alter their voice to protect their identity from Prince. We might find out some good dirt this way.

Be good to see a Behind The Music just for 86'-87'. The writting of SOTT, the album changing name and track lists, and the break up of The Revolution.

VH-1 has that show Driven where they talk to everyone but the artist. Probably too many non-disclosure contracts for Prince associates to make a decent show.

ain't that the truth, I agreed Universaluv about the fact that Prince associates have stories to tell about him but due to contracts, they are keeping mum. and therefore no dirt no show for me. if I want to hear the less nitty-gritty dirt about Prince, I would pick up DMSR.
