What Was VANITY AND PRINCE's RELATIONSHIP LIKE?

Did they ever FIGHT? Was there any Violence? Asking cause Scenes in PURPLE RAIN and ones Prince originally intended were VERY GRAPHIC and could be Interpreted as ROUGH SEX.....Plus Vanity had Bad Drug habit so did he ever try to get her to STOP?
