and I'm sure he's sooo over you. Prince ain't got a damn thing to prove to nobody no more. He did that last year with all the pre-tour tv appearances and having the top-selling tour last year that included him showing the opening night in Regal movie theaters and including his Musicology CD.

Last, but not least he was inducted in the Hall of Fame and earlier this year won 2 Grammies and the NAACP Vanguard award along with beating out Usher for Album of the year. I don't think he's even losing sleep over fickle folks like you. I'm a fickle fan myself of others such as Ricky Martin and Justin Timberflake, but I don't think they're losing sleep over nobody like me because they got their real devoted fans.

Prince baby, if you never put out anything else you've been there and done that and you've never been one to repeat yourself. All you gotta do for me is do what you do best and that's put out good music and show these no-talent hags out here that you still the SHIT!

its on and off with me...of course he´s SUPERBAD !!! but...i guess the magic aint there like it used to be...if i hear he´s doing a tour its essential that i catch it tho...so i guess he´s still special...but...not special enough to be surprized or thrilled anymore by him...

Prince has not been the same with me since 1985. Throughout the late 1980s, I kept hoping that "The Beatles" and "James Brown" would leave Prince's head and "Prince" would come back. However, since so many ballads were taking over R&B radio and funk was becoming more scarce, "The Beatles" and "James Brown" were still enough to keep me interested.

In the very early 1990s, when house music came above ground and was all over the radio, Prince was almost history with me. There were so many funky, uptempo house jams on the radio during those two or three years, it was almost like the disco era had come back. "Diamonds and Pearls", which was one of Prince's more popular 1990s albums, was out during this time and I was hardly even playing it because there was so much other stuff out there by other artists that sounded much better.

House music went all techno and turned me off. It also went underground. Midtempo hip hop totally took over radio which sounded like a dog fight. My interest once again came back to Prince, who was practically the only one still putting out uptempo funk. Actually, if music by other artists had not changed for the absolute worst, I would have written Prince off and dropped him in the 1990s.

This year yes. He's boring me, and I'm spiralling deeper and deeper down an alley of depressing music. I love it.

Actually, I feel the same way!! I still play all his albums pre-Emancipation time than any of the crap he has brought out since then, (even interested more in bootlegs pre-Emancipation time)!!! Since its release I have only played Musicology TWICE!!!!! shocked

In fact in some ways as far as I am concerned hes had his day!! It wouldnt worry me if I never saw him in concert again!! He has lost his edge, the funk has all but dissappeared, the rawness has gone!! Theres no charisma and enigma anymore!!!

I might even downgrade my fan status on my .org profile even further 2 Casual, from Enthusiast, whereas before it used 2 b Hardcore!!!! lol lol lol

Not , he still rocks live , check out the boots ;Whole Lotta Love 4 Paris and
Club Fillmore ! cool

Are you kidding me? I've borderline hated Prince for the last 8 years or so. He actually makes me angry with the bullshit he pulls, or at least he used to, until I remembered that I have no obligation to give a shit about him. That helped.

But I do check into the org every now and then to see if there's any newly-developing hope for Prince's redemption (it's nice that he's so crazy-prolific, unlike every other artist I love). For example, this 3121 thing I just heard about. I have no idea what's going on with that, and I fully expect it's going to suck ass as badly as the SST piece of shit he just did for Katrina relief. But I'll look into it to make sure. The purple wheels are always turning and I'm grateful for that.

Another thing that keeps me coming back here is to read what you interesting orgers have to say about life. I'd like to get the same thing from the good folks at www.Metal-Sludge.com but truth be told, most of those people are blathering idiots. Don't let it go to your heads

Don't laugh so soon. A lot of those people that thought Prince was a "genius" during the time I was saying he lost his mind, are now bitching and moaning because now he's overly religious and no longer nasty. All I've got to say is....welcome to the club. lol

Exactly.

My favorite thing about the org is the "Music: Non-Prince" section. There are tons of music lovers over there that love music by many artists, as well as Prince. Most everyone over there is a Prince fan but there are a lot less Prince "fams" over in that section. It is fun to come over to the "Prince: Music and More" section every now and then to rattle some cages though. lol

I will probably never be over Prince.
He creates from his own space, and every once and
awhile he brings those creations out into the open for
everyone to see. I still get excited when I know new
material is coming. Sometimes my enthusiasm is rewarded,
and sometimes it is not.
I still think that Prince is relevant. Anyone who saw
the Musicology Tour last year or One Nite Alone the previous one,
can attest to the fact that the man still has chops and
continues to challenge his audience. Did you see his
performance at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?!
Come on, that guitar solo made the ever low-key
Tom Petty do a double-take.
Prince rocks, and that's all there is to it.
During a time when everyone sells the rights to there
music to corporations - Prince is still steadfast in
his integrity. That quality alone is enough for me to
always be a fan.

He lost me somewhere when "Come"was released.
There was a lot off other music(for a while the altenative scene)
wich I liked though I must say that it didn't last that long.
When I listened 2 the radio or when 2 a bar/club I loved
it that R&B was so popular.
Not that the "music"was as intresting as what P used 2 do,
but it was fun and we just didn't hear Him that much anymore.
But I kept on buying his albums, kept on respecting him because
He had been a part of my life 4 so long.
That's what I hate so much about music and it's public these days!
If an artist puts out an album that sounds a bit different
or isn't as good as previous one, they just drop that artist
and move on 2 another one. They always are looking 4 who's hot and who's not.
Music???Only if MTV plays it it must be good!
That's why we don't have a lot off artists who really can make a
career like Prince,Stevie,MJ and many others used 2 have.
On the otherhand, the majority of the so-called artist these
days aren't looking 4 a lifetime career but insteed they just
hope they can put out 1 or 2 million selllers and then call it
quit at the age of 25.

Yeah,it used 2 be so much better in hte "old "days wink

I love prince.org, but I come here for the interaction. I could really care less what Prince is doing anymore. I'll listen to his next album when it comes out, but there's no realy excitment about it.

I don't listen to him much anymore. This community has become more interesting to me than Prince every was. shrug

With me and Prince, it's never really over.

I feel for him as Cher did for Sonny. He will always be the most unforgettable musician in my lifetime, no matter how much I bicker and rant.

Even when our sensibilities differ, all I have to do is mix together an ecletic playlist and remind myself of how wide, diverse, and deep his art has been. Then I fall to my knees and ask forgiveness for doubt.

Sure, it's been cool lately, but just today I was swooning and on the verge of tears when I put together a collection on my playlist.

I started with the spiritual: Gold, Last December, Holy River, Beautiful Strange, Thunder, Power Fantastic, 7, Elephants and Flowers, Lovesexy selections, One of Us, the Ladder, the Cross...and on and on ... I felt elevated to a place I doubt a church sermon could take me.

Then I went kinetic with Loose!, Endorphimachine, the Human Body, then raunchy with 319, Sexy MF, Cream, Continental, Blue Light, Peach ..., then atmospheric with Anna Stesia, Erotic City, and When Doves Cry. And finally sweet with Adore, Crucial, Lover Sister Mother Wife, and Savior.

After dancing and mock guitaring in my den for hours with all that on blast, I'm still trembling. That is some amazing stuff and it's only a fraction of his canon.

Naw, it can never be over between us ...even with these years of intervening boredom.

Thanks. Don't forget to add Welcome 2 the Dawn to that. I listened to that today also. Eerie stuff ..especially mixed in with Beautiful STrange, Anna Stesia and Power Fantastic.

I also put Paisley Park, STill Would Stand All Time, I Wish You Heaven, Positivity, Eye No, Question of U, I Would Die for U, Thieves in the Temple, God, and grugdingly Graffiti Bridge on my spiritual list thumbs up!

i have hope....each time prince is about to release a new album i get all excited in hopes that the album will be awesome (note: not purple rain 2 sounding either folks).....that excitement keeps me a fan...

besides, aint nobody touch what prince does live. and the fans that ive met at shows and continue to meet throughout my life keep me as a prince fan.

kinda funny, im sitting hear watching SOTT on Showtime right now and the jonze I got will keep me happy all night. i look forward to new prince music giving me this feeling....(and no, it aint cause im older either...kate bush's new album has me ON FIRE!!!! oh, and she has been around the same damn amount of time prince has has so dont tell me prince's lack in quality is because he has been around soo much. why does prince's music now suck? One Word: EGO!!)

btw: i've never noticed what an idiot atlanta bliss makes of himself during the beggining of the movie. its during the police line when the band is pounding the drums and each of them are giving "attitude" except for atlanta who is all cheese.

Sorry MOD,but PRINCE'S MUSIC DOESN'T SUCK. It's Great for what he is Creating. Rainbow and MUSICOLOGY DON'T SUCK at ALL. The others are INSTRUMENTALS and then he is doing some POLITICAL Pieces. No, Prince is BEING AWARE OF THE TIMES ..... MAYBE You and SOME OTHER FANS ARE JUST NOT GETTING HIM,The VIBE, The MINDSET, The SPIRITUALITY. MAYBE YOU'RE AT A DIFFERENT PLACE/ SPACE Than HE IS AND CAN'T GRASP HIM...

1) I dont know Prince. I dont love him. I appreciate his music when it touches me.

2) the world is not black & white. i am not a robot. my appreciation for art is dictated by my own personal responce to it.

3) my appreciation or dislike of prince's music should not threaten you.
