Prince heavily influenced by James Brown??

I think most of us would think yeah because some of P's best funk work has been called a tribute to him. I'm thinking Musicology (title track) he's channeling and everyone believes he's channeling James and also I hear Housequake mentioned a lot on that front also. Yeah they def sound like he's channeling him.

I think thats one thing the splits were a tribute to also that being James.

Anyway else, or any other well known P songs that most of you believe come from P being heavily influenced by the Godfather??
"Why'd I waste my kisses on you baby?" R.I.P. Prince You've finally found your way back home. Well Done.

"Sexy MF" is pure James Brown with a dab of new jack swing. Sounds reminiscent to "Ain't It Funky Now?"

"Prettyman" is another groove.

"The Work" from The Rainbow Children is another obvious example.

It could also be argued that the stripped down funk of "Kiss" is influenced by James Brown. The guitar in that song also reminds me of James' "Papa's Gotta Brand New Bag".

He's been more James Brown than he's been Prince since the late 1980s.
