how are you gonna question us when you yourself asked us "was it just me"????? I don't get it. No the song doesn't sound anything like "When Doves Cry" nor does it remind me of the song. Prince was a million miles away from my mind when i listed to the song, or saw the video...well let me take that back, whenever I did see the video and saw the lead singer who is a fair complexion with dark long hair, I did think to myself.."hmm, someone Prince hasn't fucked yet, but she had the potential to be one of his girls.." but that was it...

He did (quite possibly) put his plug in the previous lead singers socket.

I always thought that the music sounds like AUTOMATIC with heavier bass. No question about it. Take a listen.

It does sound like "Glamorous Life." I'm glad other people think so too! The melody of the chorus from "Don't Cha" sounds just like the sax in "Glamorous Life".

It reminds me of Vavoom with that sound effect, and they all are a bit Vainty 6-esqe

that song sounds like a late 80's prince song he would have given a girl group. Even the synth coming in sounds like the hot thing type of vibe.
