It's one of the very best albums he has done. But somehow it is underrated by alot of people. Even with classics like the title track, condition of the heart and temptation!!

It's weird to think that when I was eating jelly and ice cream and running round my living room, Prince was in MPLS making weird synthesiser noises and creating this song. Eating jelly and ice cream and running round a room, obviously. rolleyes

Loved this album from the beginning, especially all the great b-sides (She's always in my hair). But one thing that bothered me was when Jimmy Jam was critisizing the album saying that it was really just a retread of purple rain in many ways. America = Baby I'm a Star; The ladder = Purple Rain. I then started to notice that he was right in many ways. But the album still is one of my favorites.

That's one of my favourites, too. nod I fell in love with it the moment I heard it.

Have you heard the unreleased versions? One starts out with a tabla or something and has more of an acoustic sound.

No, not heard that.

It just irks me how it switches into a new groove at the end but then doesn't go anywhere. It fades out way too quick.

I'll try and sort you out with that.

But, yes, I agree with you there. I wonder whether - had the technology been around, i.e. 80 minute albums, etc - we would have had 'fuller' albums at the time? Maybe a Purple Rain complete with the 10min Computer Blue, for example? Or whether Prince would've still released them as they are.

shrug

Don't know why I'm asking you this. lol
