Does any1 remember back in the day when Casey Kasem would do his American top 40 countdown on the radio, and he would always have those Long Distance Dedications? I was thinking back 2 then, and I remembered 1 that was from a handicapped artist who overcame depression and rediscovered her love 4 art thanks to Prince's music, and in gratitude she did a LDD 2 Prince of "Mountains." This had 2 have been in 1987/1988, a little after Parade but not that much after. It was non-cheesy, unlike many of those LDDs, and it always sticks in the back of my mind when I hear that song.

i used to listen to casey's top 40 every sunday morning when i was like 9 or 10...from what i remember, i'd never heard anyone sending out prince stuff for that request & dedication stuff.

then again, it was the late '80s/early '90s and all that was being played on there for the dedications was all the typical popsy-schmaltzy mall hair shit.

ever hear that clip of Casey Kasem absolutely going off swearing and everything after he had to play an uptempo song after a LDD??? it's some funny shit! He's all pissed off cause he had just done a LDD and the song after it was uptempo...he apparently couldn't change gears so easily.
