Do u think that its time for prince to put the 'scream' away? in his hey, his scream could send a shiver to the centre of my soul. Sadly, it now sounds more like a strained gargle. what do you think?

It's hard to think of him having to stop doing some of the things he used to. Losing his splits was a blow.

I don't think he's ready to retire his screaming just yet. It doesn't sound like he's straining to me. Plus, I think he will retire it long before we think it's necessary. He wouldn't go out like that.

In the last tour he was talking (bragging) about how his voice is getting higher.

He occasionally screamed during Musicology,The Question of U and The Beautiful Ones namely on last year's tour and it sounded alright to me.

i think his range is still way above most pop vocalists today, but i have to also say that there were several times during the last tour when it sounded like he was "faking" some of his screams - it's like he was managing the sound, but the volume of it sounded a bit choked. his falsetto is still unbelievable as always, though.

He doesn't need to scream anymore.


If Prince would discard his current pimp look, and dress up in his string bikini and thigh high pantyhose again, I guarantee there will be screaming!

i just expect prince's abilities to change as he gets older, for better or for worse. i don't see him being able to jump off pianos and do splits into his 50s, and i don't know many older vocalists who can still pull off prince's vocal acrobatics when they start getting up in years. of course, P seems to have taken pretty good care of himself for the most part, so maybe we'll have a few more years of him in his prime.

He screams at the end of "A Million Days." I hope he doesn't stop screaming - sometimes it makes a song.. For instance I love that scream in the beginning of Gett Off.

Now, as anixety says prince has retained many things and he is still great. Nor should anybody expect Prince to still be doing things they way he did. P is damn near 50 years old. Mentally, he's just not in the same place as he was in 81-85. On his 1999 and Purple Rain albums, there is where he showcases his rage (screams) the most. P is so not in that state of mind anymore, plus, he probably feels that, with maturity, he wants to give off a different vibe. Not the angry, wild, driven filled 24, 25 year old that wants to turn everybody out.

Sorry to say but Prince when he screams doesn't sound that good anymore. He sounds like he cant get the brakes out or something. Prince sounds kinda old when he screams now or days. I mean it's not as powerful as back N the day, U know International Lover, The Bueatiful Ones, Do Me, Baby. I dont think it's the same as it used 2 B. U noticed he doesn't sqweel anymore. I hear him now it's now he struggles 2 do it.
