Must have tours on DVD

Earlier discussion on the little man's recorded tours got me thinking. There seems to be a general consensus that the Dirty Mind Paris (ghs/team fda) DVD is a must have for Prince heads.

I was wondering what other ones you orgers consider must haves.

Please don't get this thread locked by discussing where to get them etc.

Thanks!

"YEAH!!!"

"Yeah, well then fuck those other fools!"

The most popular seem to be Lovesexy, Parade, One Night Alone and Musicology. Sign O the Times is up there as well but, aside from the concert film footage, it's next to impossible to find. The Purple Rain,1999 and Controversy tours are particularly popular as well. I try to get at least 2 shows from every tour whenever possible.

there's a show from the purple rain tour in atlanta from '85 that is sheer bliss. i was generously introduced to it on my birthday, and it's one of my absolute favorite prince video recordings.

I'd love the "Parade" tour (birthday show - Cobo Arena, Detroit) and "Lovesexy" tour on DVD. Good quality versions of the "Dirty Mind" to "Purple Rain" tours would be good to see, but all the footage I've seen, including the Syracuse video from the PR tour, has been blurry as hell.

nod and it's ok, it's a description, not an advertisement. wink

COMMENT : What a fantastic first release from Ladybird. After the official Syracuse show, this is the best quality Purple Rain concert circulating (the remaining Houston show is audience filmed). It's professionally shot by a single camera directly in front of the stage and gives a clear unobstructed view of the action. The audio of the show has been available on the CITY LIGHTS release for some time, and it's cool to see what you have only previously heard before. The set-list is pretty basic for a Purple Rain show, however the 25 minute (read it and weep - 25 minutes!!) Baby I'm A Star makes up for that. Nice menu, with chaptering make this an excellent release. Oh, and watch out for Prince catching his foot on the microphone stand and taking a tumble, kinda sad.....but oh so funny wink

Personally, I like this better than the Syracuse video...I like how much more raw it is. Did something go terribly wrong during "Purple Rain"? It looked as though he was trying to hide a major temper tantrum.

I recently got a copy of the Syracuse show. It looks really good, like it was cleaned up.

I mean, the VHS copy I bought in 1985 looks all fuzzy & old & shit.

The DVD looks brand new.

I think the best all around video is the BBC documentary from 94. Has the best footage from all those tours.
