Career move that Prince's shouldn't have made? If there was one career move that Prince shouldn't have made back in the day, in your opinion what would it be?
For me, it was pulling the Black Album... A close 2nd for me, would be adding Larry Graham to the group. | |

EVERYTHING WORKED FOR HIM SO I SAY NADA but it PROBABLY HURT HIM NOT DOING THE INTERVIEWS BACK THEN and PROBABLY THE SLAVE THING with WARNERS. Otherwise I would say he shoulda put out THE BLACK album SOONER..CRYSTAL BALL SOONER...CAMILLE ALBUM. ALSO NO VIDEOS for SIGN O THE TIMES ALBUM, NO TOUR for SIGN in the USA and NO TOUR in USA for NUDE PERIOD. I WISH he Gave us THOSE TOURS NOT EUROPE. WE got MOVIES INSTEAD. i thought this as well. though it's a great album, i can't seem to put my finger on the exact reason why i feel this way. but i've heard ATWIAD come up on several discussions about bad career moves. i remember reading an article that said people (general public) weren't ready for a 'new musical direction' from him yet and that the cover art didn't help either.  | |

Releasing a new album only a year after Purple Rain.
Attempting to write and direct the sequel to Purple Rain after UTCM bombed.

I disliked that album and I almost ran it over with my tracker one day after I listen to the album and the only reason why I didn't because I borrow it from the library. Well, I know this album did great commercially... but for me it was where Prince started going downhill: Diamonds and Pearls. The only track on this album that I like is Get Off. He still releases great stuff... but not as consistently for me. | |

I know people will fight me on this, but to me "Lovesexy" was a huge mistake. Commercially and musically it was real pivotal time in his career, and I think he made the wrong decision with that album. It just wasn't the right direction to go. |
