I heard they toured together, but they ended up not getting along? Something to that effect.

Does anyone know more details? Was there a rivalry between them? Furthermore, who had the better show?

I heard the Rick was mad because Prince did a better show when Prince opend for Rick. And as far as Rick saying Prince was dangrous? well how died from complcations from years of drug abuse? how many times has prince been arested much less sent to prison for anything?

but Prince's dig a Rick during some of the lovesexy shows (they start to play super freak and prince says "no no I don't play that i'm from MPLS") still craks me up.

What I read from several books was that Rick James envied Prince as he warmed the crowds up too much and leaving them tired by the time Rick came on. Also apparently Rick was offended by his outfits on satge and singing songs like Head.

Other rumours
1. Prince refused to sign an autograph for Ricks mother (Possibly true)
2. Prince didnt like all the drugs Rick and band consumed (maybe but memebers did in Princes group later on to, also he took the occassional pill as well)
3. Vanity (true, but Prince didnt fall in love with her until late 81, 18months later)
4. Black rick accused Prince of not wanting to be black, and keeping a reality trip on the little 'science ficton creep'
5. Vanity 6, Rick accused Prince of stealing his concept with his Mary Jane girls group, their hit wasnt until 1985, Vanity 6 was on first
6. 1983, apparently Big Chick carried Prince in on piggyback to a Rick James concert, and the audience turned around and watched him, he was then carried out by Chick.
How much of this stuff was true we will never know, but we know Rick ended up in JAIL a lot and his career hit the skids as he never really broke thru. I think he was just jealous of the real star.

That makes me Laugh. To tell you the Truth I LOVEd Rick James. I was Sad to hear him pass. However , who SOLD MORE ALBUMS and CONCERT TICKETS? Yes, I do Believe PRINCE was VERY SEXUALLY EXPLICIT and JAMES was More SUBDUED. Everybody used to say he was a SLEEZE. What is that AROSMITH SONG? Janie's Got a GUn...MAN IS SUCH A SLEEZY.....
