I really like 1999 too.
DMSR is unbelievably good! and I also really like "lady cab driver" and "let's pretend we're married."

With the 1999 album, Prince reached a whole new level, showing his full-blown techniques on the synthesizers and drum machines and his songwriting is also sharp and notorious as ever. It really is an experience and it brilliantly displays what Prince does best. Production-wise, it is his best, but artistically, I still love Sign O The Times.

agreed on SOTT, but I think Purple Rain is even more perfect in production than 1999. Flawless. The not 1999 discs need remastering, 1999 sounded better on vinyl. I'm not a huge fan of some of the cuts like dmsr, Something In The Water, Lady Cab Driver. Landmark album though.

Definitely sounded better on vinyl and remember the artwork that was done for the LP? Didn't see it on the CD!

"1999" is my favorite album of all time. It's cold, futuristic, and funky as hell. I love everything about that era....the album, the B Sides, the protegees, the clothes, the look, and the attitude.

Same here. He has never surpassed it imo, Purple rock futuristic funk. His best stage set as well.

Oh, yes. I love those blinds and the elevator that gives the illusion of him rising to the top.

My god woman, do you listen to music at all. How can anyone make a question lise that. Have you ever heard of Jimi Hendrix, or the Beatles or todd Rundgren. OMG, that was such a idiotic statement to me that I'm at a lost for words. I don't see how anyone can listen to 1999 and make a statement like that.

She didn't say Prince was the "only one" to make an album with those qualities.
