New Prince Album: Download or Wrecka Stow?

This is a carryover topic that was brought up in another thread recently...

When the next album comes out, should a download of the album be offered at NPGMC before the "hard copy" album hit stores, will you download it? Will you also get the CD when it comes out, so you'll have the liner notes and album art?

If you don't get the DL, will you try hard not to read about the music until you get the CD, or does that bother you? Would you listen to a streaming preview if the club posted one?

i'm still pretty old-school when it comes to stuff, even in the age of instantaneous downloading. i'd much rather physically go to the wrecka sto and get an album, have it in my hands, cover work/liner notes and all to read while i ride home on the bus, as opposed to merely downloading it (and getting pissed if it doesn't download correctly or fast enough).

For me only CD, not D/L. I will wait 'til it will be in shops.
I appreciate the chance to have D/L for those who like them, it's nice; what I do not understand is why (oh why?!?) it is so difficult for P to press and sell via internet regular CDs maybe in limited edition for the NPGMC releases like "Chocolate Invasion" or "Xpectation" to name two (especially since they can spent time to press a 1-track (mono?) "Controversy" CD single...)

It depends if they were released at the same time if the download was like a month b4 then I would have 2 have it.But I would take a cd everytime over a download.
I dont like reading other peoples opinions b4 I hear it I like 2 make my own mind up.I am very easily swayed by other opinions mad wink

I would wait for the hardcopy but if there was a streaming version I would listen ahead of time. I wouldn't download a copy unless it was free.
I enjoy reading the comments of the music before I hear it. Nothing anyone writes effects my opinion of music anyhow.

I'm not falling for their ploys anymore. Everything except the first years downloads are all eventually released. The club isn't really that exclusive. We only really get releases a few days or weeks in advance to record stores. And I want hard copies, not digitized music. I want to hold it in my hand, even if it is sans liner note content(see SST single) and more.

I would do both. I want to be one of the first people to hear what he has to offer plus get the liner notes. He's the only artist who's music I wouldn't mind paying twice for.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I want to buy it at the same place I would get a Sam Cooke album...

at the wrecka stowe!

If nothing else because I have dial up right now and it would take me three days to download the damn thing.

record store. i want a decent cd, not some crap sounding mp3 files once more.

plus, if you download it, you already wear it out before it hits the stores.

If the download's available prior to to the wrecka stow, then I'll end up doing both. Liner notes, packaging and etc are nice, but all that eventually ends up in my closet anyway. I'd want the music as soon as possible.

Still, the completionist in me would have to pick up the CD later. Just to check it out.

Record store! No doubt about that. I hardly ever download anything. Maybe a song or two, but never an entire album from a favourite artist.

well for musicology it was available for DL before the BIG SCREEN PREMIERE

I waited patiently a day or two because I wanted the real thing in my hands.....Now if I had to wait more than a week

I would probably DL as well

I'd download it... and provided that it's a new album dropping on 12/13 and not Prince mooning the nation on Access Hollywood... I'll let someone get it for me for Christmas.

well it depends. If the online version would have more bonus tracks than the hard copy cd version, then i'd download it, but if the later actual cd release will have more on their then i'd get the cd. Its a matter of the benefits. Either way, the cd will be in my car and then i'd rip it onto my mp3 player for the gym.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
