i have always been great admiror of prince's guitar playing.
but in the 1998-1999 period i felt that his playing was missing
those wild excursions prince does on guitar.
his solos seemed dull and without inspiration,especialy on
the rave 2000 dvd.
but as the year 2000 come i heard a track called "habibi"(some people said it's a hendrix machine gun cover)
i thought:wow prince is back.he is practising his axe again.
that lovely guitar ditty is full of trademark prince licks + very fast picking style that wasn't present on rave 2000 dvd.

i hear ya... and 2001 was a great year to witness Prince playing Habibi

Yeah great song! Prince obviously does like Hendrix. For anyone who didn't know this is his tribute to 'machine gun'.

I don't see any similarities to Hendrix's song at all - all I hear is Prince jamming to a groove and saying "Machine Gun" a few times towards the end. Sounds like one of those off-the-cuff recordings. More of a jam than an actual song.
