DIAMONDS AND PEARLS and CRIME in THE USA http://www.worldstar.com/...fields.htm
http://www.ncrel.org/sdrs...donner.htm http://www.zinkle.com/p/a...i_17320970 Everyone knows that Prince released Dimaonds & Pearls in October of 1991. What some people don't know is that in addition to an album that firmly establishes Prince's secret obsession with anal stimulation, the street credibility and "Gansta Glam" vibe of the multi-platinum selling album had an unintended consequence for it's success : It's influence on the U.S. crime rate. Atlanta experienced it's 3rd highest violent crime rate in the country during this year. I postulate that much of this is largely due to Prince's stranglehold on the youth culture in America. His fluanting of the gun-mic, his avid cursing, his wildy street cred video, Gansta Glam, and Jugehead--the tour deforce of hard core rap rivaling anything that NWA or Onyx could have concieved of. Prince's influence on pop culture is amazing. Throughout the years, there are things people do and listen to that have been influenced by him and NOBODY seems to give him credit for it. Are there any other periods in history that you feel PRince's influence should have been more acknoledged, even if just musically?

No he's not the real deal, the 777 kids use these forum's to try and wind people up, it is obvious they have a thing for all things anal.... after a while you will see the hand that they play. Come on Prince give us a new album, if only to stop this kind of shit!

Funny. I wanted to commit a crime when I first heard "D to the I to the A to the M..."
But I don't think there's any cursing at all on D&P, let alone "avid cursing." Check this song out at:

What a load of nonsense, theres nothing criminal in D and P. Too much time on ones hands. 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

Conrgats, AB. You've succeeded in confusing a whole new crew of people with your humour.
I'm proud of you. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

But I don't think there's any cursing at all on D&P, let alone "avid cursing." There isn't, but there's plenty of cursing to be heard whenever Jughead comes on, and much of it is avid. It's an interesting point that AB777 raises though, 1991 was a tough year anyway, but it never occurred to me before that D&P was responsible for the increased crime rate. Of course, now that I think about it, it makes perfect sense. I wonder would it have made any difference if Prince had stuck to his usual theme of vaginas for this album, rather than branching out into anal stimulation. I'd like to think so, but I doubt it - songs like Jughead are always going to incite violence, regardless of the overall theme of the album they're on. Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

Well, nothing other than the crime of letting Tony M rap on the album. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

Clearly, there would never have been a september 11 without Prince & his NPGMC. The whole event was a tour-de-force by the major record companies 2 turn the world's attention away from the amazing xperiment Prince was creating at the time.
As intended by the majors, Al Quaida took all the blame, & Prince reduced his "10 songs per month" release schedule 2 a more acceptable "10 songs per year", under the majors' menace 2 kill more US citizens... If not 4 Prince & his NPGMC, 3500 New Yorkers would still b alive, the USA would still b a democracy, the Talibans would still rule Afghanistan & Saddam would still be smoking joints in his palace... The good news is that the Majors have found a way 2 keep releasing huge amount of musical shit every months. Thanx God they have found a way 2 reduce the NPGMC 2 a shadow of what it once was...
