We're talking semantics here. If by "idolize," you mean admire -- no. I don't think that would annoy Prince at all. But if by idolize, you mean literally idolize him..like an god -- he'd be against it.

i guess he finds it hard to understand why people wish to idolize him, guess he would prefer it if people just appreciated his music, the problem with fans.. (as Prince says "fan is short for fanatic") and fanatics have a reputation for extreme behaviour... the problem is when people idolize someone thats what causes invasions of privacy, people tryin to steal his personal items, cameras in his face everywhere he goes etc etc, Prince wants people to appreciate his music but be the person you are and live your own life and not to live your life through Prince and the only one he wishes for people to worship is God... this whole question is somethin i have pondered for many years... guess in a way it needs to go both ways... Prince may need to understand that some people may look to his genius as insperation for thier own lives as they see him as having such devotion and control which is very hard for some... Prince is not God... although he is probably the greatest creative genius of all time and certainly on a higher spiritual plane than most people in this world... guess thats why people look to idolize him, its hard not to idolize someone so special... ultimately it comes down to how we appreciate him, its about appreciation and respect for what he chooses to share with us and not what we want from him...
