Darling...Yes, At Least he Knows where my HEART Stands Concerning Him... It is True that ALOT of These Other Fans who SWEAR DEVOTION say NEGATIVE things about HIm,MANI,MAYTE and LARRY. To ME THEY are CRAZY. Anybody WISHING HARM or DIVORCING and GETTING OVERLY AGGRESSIVE at his CONCERTS is a THREAT or PSYCHo. Yes, he knows who I Am. I am Very TIMID around him. AFRAID to DO THE WRONG THING or AFRAID of NOT BEING GOOD ENOUGH or Dressing RIGHT or What Have You. It's as STUPID as Can BE BUT FOR HIm I WANT TO BE PERFECT... I just am So In AWE of Him. I Have AlWAYS Felt this Way... To Me He is THE PERFECT MAN. biggrin I may go a Bit Crazy Around him But I CAN'T HELP IT. And Plus as a Person My Coping STRATEGIES SUCK....VERY SENSITIVE/EASILY HURT. I guess I IDEALIZE PEOPLE FOR THINKING EVERYONE is GOOd/NICE and I GET STUNG By the REALIZATION that People can BE VERY MEAN and UNSCUPULOUS and have no ETHICS. I feel that Being HONEST and FORTHRIGHT but NOT ABUSIVE EVER is the RIGHT PATH. I REALLy do BELIEVE In BEINg a GOOd,NICE PERSON... I Honestly Can Not HATE BUt I DO AVOID... I CERTAINLY AVOID NEGATIVE.... One should RUN AWAY from THE DEVIL.... BE AROUND GOOD HEALTHY PEOPLE NEVER TOXIC FRIENDS.... biggrin I will ALWAYS LOVE PRINCe. He is My GURU. NOBODY CAN EVER SOIL him in MY EYES. He is a MAN and He is HUMAN and I NEVER EXPECTEd a ROBOT... He is the BEST MUSICIAN ANYWHERE! MY WISH is FOR HIm TO GET THAT STAR ON HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME and I HOPE SOME MILLIONAIRE GRANTS MY WISH FOR PRINCE...HE is LONG OVERDUE In THIS HONOR and HOW DARe a WIFE BEATER LIKE IKE HAVE ONE and NOT PRINCE!!! THE INDUSTRY CAN NOW SAY As a JEHOVAH and ALL PRINCE FITS IN THEIR EYES... biggrin

Oh Funky to your next question...I Do Not Know. I have Never really witnessed this but I Do FINd ALOT of MALE FANs to be WACK JOBS. They talk about Larry and one I went to a Concert with kept calling Mayte a BITCH. Some are BOOTLEGGERS or JUST there to meet EASY,PRETTY PRINCe Girls. It is PROBABLY BETTER NOT TO DATE a MALe FAN. Better to TURN Your Guy INTO a FAN.. A MALE OBSESSIVE alot of times is GAY and REFUSES to ADMIt it. Not ANYTHINg WRONG BUt THE COMPETITION also AMONGST FANs is CRAZY. INSTEAD of EVERYONE BEING FANs and SHARINg and Doing THINGs In a GROUP There is HATRED. I Personally Hate NEGATIVe GOSSIp about PRINCe or his WOMEN. I THINK it's MEANSPIRITED. I Mean as a FAN DON"T YA WANT PRINCE HAPPY? I actually saw MANi at SEVERAL PLACES. Fans told me NEGATIVE Things about her. I didn't Know her or EVEN RECOGNIZE her at these Functions. She Looked DIFFERENT. I found the Pictures didn't do her Justice. She looks very Young and Pretty. I would have said Hi or spoken to her besides giving her advice if I RECOGNIZED HER. Then, She just Reminded me of an Early Version of Somebody I Knew and that was WEIRD. Prince is STUNNINg in PERSOn and MANy CAB DRIVERs DISSEd Him...I Just Realize that BECAUSE I am SO Passionate About Him..WEll, Yes Men Who LIKe Me Talk Bad about him. I have to Keep my Love For Him Secret. I Gush about him too Much. A local singer Called me a CHILd. They Just Wish They WERE Having Fans FALL OVEr THEM like PRINCe... They were COOL BUt They are NOT PRINCe. It is QUITE a DIFFERENCE. Everyone tells me There are Plenty Of CELEBRITIEs,But ONCE AGAIn THEy ARe NOt PRINCE. I Can LIKE THEM ALOT BUT PRINCE...He HAS MY HEART....HOPELESSLY DEVOTEd To The PURPLE ONE! biggrin

I HEAR YOU ZELS THAT IS WHY I WILL ALWAYS GO SEE PRINCE ALONE IF PRINCE EVER PLAYS AGAIN. AT LEAST TWICE BUT PROBABLY MORE TIMES THAN THAT MY TIME WAS RUINED BECAUSE OF NEGATIVE PEOPLE PUTTING PRINCE OR HIS PLAYERS DOWN. I WAS SO HAPPY JUST TO BE ABLE TO SEE HIM PLAY AND THEY COULDN'T ENJOY IT WITH ME. WHY THEY DON'T JUST GO SOMEWHERE THAT THEY'D ENJOY I DO NOT KNOW. THEY'D RATHER BAD MOUTH PRINCE WITH THEIR NEGATIVITY THAN LOOK FOR SOMETHING GOOD IN LIFE.

AVOID IS THE RIGHT WORD

Yes, definitely.

In fact, I think Prince has some of the most demanding fans in the world. Sure they did put up with a lot of his shennanigans, but their hunger for new music -- official or boots -- never ceases to astound me. And some of them are so specific about what they want... it's almost like they want something customized for them on top of expecting at least one album a year. The glut of Prince music, both official and bootlegged, is staggering, but even when the quality is slipping they want more, more, more... Some of them get angry, as if it wasn't time for our boy to take his time with a project.

You ask a lot of questions, or at least your post contains a lot of sentences that end with a question mark - but I'll try to answer to each individual one.

I was pondeing this thought after reading over at the npgmc posts requesting information or a date for a new release?

Well, this first one really isn't a question, I'll just skip it.

I could be wrong in my observation but seems and only after visiting a few Prince fan sites, un'offical and the Offical fan/music club that there seems to be a different level of fandom?

Well, there are different levels of everything. You know, it's like in Spinoza's theory of variating speeds, none of the substances can really match each other.

Are those most loyal to him, the ones who let him know what they want and how often they want it?

Should they be loyal for some reason? I think those are just the most impatient and generally the least open to other artists and other genres of music, if they'd broaden their views they could get all sorts of new revelations from other people's works.

I am right in this observation?

What observation? An observation cannot end with a question mark, maybe a hypothesis if the formulation called for it, but I wouldn't call it an observation, unless you are willing to actually state something.

Another question, are the hardcore fans (the fans who wait) his most loyal fans?

Why the obsession with loyalty? I don't know however, exactly. I've been a fan since my teenage years and bought most of his releases that I've managed to get my hands on. I'd hardly view that as "loyalty" though. I just make purchase decisions just like any other consumer. Doesn't necessarily mean I'm loyal to Chiquita bananas just because I usually buy Chiquita bananas at stores.

And what would you consider to be a loyal fan?

I don't know. Perhaps you ought to have defined the term yourself before including it in your previous questions.

And are these "loyal" hardcore fans considered to be real in their appreciation for his music and him as a great musician or groupie/fanatic type fans as most musicians have?

Considered by whom? By other "loyal" hardcore fans, or by complete outsiders? I don't know what type of fans you are referring to by defining most musicians' fans as groupie/fanatic's, because that doesn't necessarily match with my own observation of most musicians' fanbases. I'd say Prince fans are Prince fans, and as far as our obsessive behaviour towards a 50-year-old-panthy-hose-wearing midget goes we can sometimes be a bit demanding of our hero, yes.

"A bit demanding"? Yeah, I'd say you definitely have a penchant for irony/sarcasm. We Prince fans (loyal, hardcore, deloyal hardcore, etc,, etc.) are among the hungriest bunch I know.

We've been used to a high output, so you kinda expect it.

These days I don't expect/demand anything from Prince's music. I *hope* that it's great, but I don't demand or expect it to be.

ah, okay...but i'm so not grumpy. hug

sooooo...i'm speaking solely for myself here: i don't feel the need to demand anything from prince. i'm fine with all the stuff i have/know about. i just go with the flow of things. if he puts out something and gets chatter going amongst the fan community, fine. if he doesn't, fine. we got a shitload of back material to feed on until something comes forth. there are people who seem as if they're not getting enough material from 'im and they get pissy about it. why?

I'm totally with Grumpy McPissychucks up there. nod

no matter -- Prince is gonna do what he's gonna do
if we have any sanity at all
we should be happy for the times he does "show" up
"heya, Prince -- how's it going? good to see you again!"
the problem is, he usually spoils us when he does come around
then all we want is to see more of him
but really, we should be happy to go about our lives
let him live his
and be pleasantly surprised whenever the two intersect

thanks for saying that,Snap.
couldn't have said it better myself. cool

After a few chats with a few members from some Prince websites, I notice that the demand is not all the same. There seems to be those who wait and feel a bit disappointed and then there seems to be those that still appreciate Prince as a musician respecting him just as that. true supporters do not "expect" anything from him... they simply appreciate everything he chooses to share with them (wether they like it or not) without feeling the need to rubbish him or criticize anything they dont agree with or like, of course there is a big difference between expecting something and hoping for something!!
