My crapping on Musicology comes to mind. heres the deal, nobody can take way the emotional impact that prince's music has on you...so just agree to disagree and enjoy the fact that *you* get it and others just simply dont. but knocking them for disagreeing with you doesnt really do anyone or anything good. now, to answer your initial question: i think prince used to be really effective at communicating his feelings and beliefs..but the last decades have left me, personally, cold. i feel like prince is intimidated to share his raw emotions now. yes, sometimes he is open to sharing himself (in songs like Reflection, I Love You But I Dont Trust You Anymore come to mind) but for the most part IMHO he seems to be more guarded about his intentions. and the results leave my ears cold to his true emotional impact. but thats my take on it....it shouldnt take away how you experienced things.....if it does, well.....that means you didnt have a true buy in on what he was conveying in the first place.
