Prince at THE STARLIGHT LOUNGE?? Just wondering about this Aftershow, heard it recently and it seems THE PURPLE ONE has a bad sore throat and is very croakey. Listening to it further it gives his voice a gravel type effect which is unusual for him and that he seems to enjoy talking in.
Have a listen.... he never stops! Sounds like he was screaming too loud at the main show. Also, where and when was this STARLIGHT LOUNGE performance? [Edited 11/8/05 10:05am] “Tuna, you better do something or else we gonna have to put you back in the can!”

I presume you are listening to the recently released bootleg entitled 'Starlight Longe' which is predominantly a recording of Prince's aftershow performance at the DNA Lounge, San Francisco on 12 April, 1993. . Yeah.... first CD seems to be a proper aftershow (which is the one I'm on about) and the other CD isn't as good - which seems to be a compilation.... haven't listened to it properly really.
Ju think I'm right about the voice tho?? He was lovin' that croaky sound wasn't he?? “Tuna, you better do something or else we gonna have to put you back in the can!”

The second disk begins with the intro to Goldnigga from the DNA aftershow featured on the first disk, but the sound recording for the most part was poor. The main part of the Goldnigga recording and subsequent tracks are from the Cabaret Metro, Chicago aftershow, 6 April, 1993, up to and including Push and Daddy Pop. The final tracks are from the Sheffield Arena show, 2 August, 1993. . ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.
