"like it´s 1999" Hi people
A co-worker emailed some news about Google, and the title was "Google is hiring like it´s 1999". Being brazilian (my english is very limited), I ask you: is it a regular english expression or they borrowed the line from "1999" ? Just curious... Thanks in advance.

Maybe it's a reference to the way so many programmers, etc. were being hired in 1999 to help fix hardware/software for Y2K? "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015
