So if you take the finished product - Rave Un2 - and remove:
Undisputed Hot Wit U So Far, So Pleased Everyday Is A Winding Road Baby Knows You just took all the uptempo guts out of the album, not you got a sappy, slow, syrup filled "Rave". "New Power slide...." |

I've often thought Rave Un2 was a poor choice of title. My preference would have been Strange But True. I envisioned a cd cover that would be a send-up of the tabloids like Weekly World News. Big picture of Prince caught by the papparazzi with the headline STRANGE BUT TRUE. The album was killed by the title, the fact that it was released in 1999, and that he announced that the producer was none other than Prince. The hype was huge, and the record was average (for Prince) at best. Check this song out at:

it could do without some of it's shitty songs and
use a bit more punch and some more weird stuff: first up, all the extended version of Rave In2 Purple House When Will We B Paid? Silicon Madrid 2 Chicago Breathe Beautiful Strange all of which would not look totally out of place on different configurations of the album. I've included Silicon since I like it and since it's likely an older song, dating from before the supposed High sessions since it includes a verse from the Greatest Romance remix single. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps | |
