Controversy, it's the full grown plant, sparse sound, synthesisers, bass, vocal layering, spoken word middle, soul screams =Prince and the Minneapolis noise.

Lets Go Crazy sums it up pretty well.Rock,Funk, and and a beat you can shake your ass to.The song defies any rael boundries, which is the Real Minneapolis Sound. To create something you never heard before.

we all want A Love Bizarre

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

All of the above and of course a lot of the songs he wrote for The Time.I mean you´ve GOT to mention Get It Up or Jungle Love or The Bird or Partyup or Uptown if you mention the songs above.
Personally , I think A Love Bizarre and The Glamorous Life and Sex Shooter sum it up very good , 17 Days is another example, and of course Let´s Go Crazy and DMSR and Lady Cab Driver.
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Totally agree on "DMSR"

But as for when I'm in Minneapolis and play the music that FEELS like the city, I have 3 choices.. "Uptown", "Let's Go Crazy" and "The Bird"
