What's with the references to Michael in "My name is Prince" and "Life O' the Party"... What's with the grudge?

The earliest "issue" I can think of is the "Prince t-shirt" mention in Moonwalker.

Who doesn't hate Michael?

People see what they want to in the lyrics. Prince has said he doesn't hate MJ.

Prince doesn't HATE MJ. He is probably slightly jellous though... and rightly so! MJ has had WAAAAY more success than P, even though P is WAAAAY more talented / hardworking.

So he is bound to be slightly jellous...

No hate, they respect each other.

Maybe he hates him on the basis that alot of other people hate him, ..they think he is a kiddy fiddler

Why would Prince hate him? Hate is a very strong word. Maybe Prince has animosity 2wards Micheal Jackson.

I'm an ex-fan of MJ, but if Prince hated him, he wouldn't have called him on a genius on that radio interview he did. End of discussion.

I can tell you that when "Dangerous" came out, Femi Jeyi tried to get Prince to check out "Butterflies", but Prince wouldn't listen to it. Femi said Prince sort of dismissed it away.

he doesn't....and the supposed "dig" at 'im in "life o'the party" ain't there, despite what some folks think they hear in it.

I can't clarify which interview it was at the moment, but other people have clarified it before, and in it, the interviewer was playing word association with him and when told 'Michael Jackson', Prince replied 'genius', and when told Janet Jackson, P merely replied 'genius' sister'.

10. How many side acts has Michael produced?

And I know I will get death mails from Jacko fans who r innocent, but thats the breaks. I am just trying to prove their differences, a reason why people mix the two is because they are black and huge megastars (ie a few of the black people whites chose to notice in the 80's.

There is only one Prince, insist on the geniune article.

The impression I get is that Prince and Michael have sort of a grudging respect for each other and a genuine respect for each other's work, but that Prince at least is not above teasing.


That said, if Macauley's testimony at the trial is to be believed, MJ and Prince hang out together in weird places -like FAO Schwarz.
