In This Bed I Scream -video idea The appreciation thread below got me wondering if Prince ever released a video for the song, or even one he never made public.
When I first heard the song back when it was released, I thought it would be perfect to release as a single. Being a creative mind, and future filmmaker, I would day dream how I would make the video. Since the odds of me ever meeting the man to discuss creative ideas are slim to none, I thought I would share my thoughts with you guys. I haven't thought of it in years, so some of the details and scenes are foggy, but here is the main jist. We see Prince sitting at table at an upscale club with his wife at the time. (Mayte?) You can tell he is in love, having a good time. One by one, we see the women of Prince's past sitting about the room. Vanity, Appolonia, Kim Basinger, etc. Everyone he probably rather not see being he is with his new love. So, one thing leads to another, and the girls start surrounding Prince & Mayte obviously pissed off, with exaggerated movements. It escalates into a cat fight between the ex's with wine glasses being broken, and Mayte storming out of the club. Prince has a look of bewilderment, and maybe even satisfaction on his face. (of having a bunch of good looking women fighting over him!) So, next we see Prince riding the famous "Purple Rain" motorcycle through the streets of Minneapolis in the poring rain.(in his purple gear) He comes up to Paisley Park, gets off the bike, and shouts out to Mayte in front of her window -looking like that scene from Shawshank Redemption where Tim Robbins is finally free. The video ends with Prince waking up shouting out in pool of sweat. He is sitting upright in his huge bed with pure white comforter whearing his silky robes. There are doves cooing off to the side, and a confused Prince looks to his side and sees Mayte sleeping peacefully. His only dialog: "What a nightmare." -and drifts off back to sleep. I thought that a video like this would be a clever "comeback" for Prince on MTV. At the time, he wasn’t the huge success of his past (or last years resurgence), and people still thought of him as the weird guy that wore pajamas and changed his name to a symbol. MTV wasn't playing his videos, and I as a true Prince fan wanted him back in the limelight in a big way. My disappointment in how he made his comeback with Emancipation(Betcha by Golly Wow -good song, but come on, make a statement that your back!) made me think this might have been a better way to make a splash. MTV seemed into his comeback with that special premiere, and I was pumped. Hearing the twinkling of "Betcha" made me almost want to puke when the special started.(I was expecting some kick ass guitar revival -I told all my friends to watch) I just think he missed a big opportunity at the time.(He made up for it last year) So, what do you guys think?

tough crowd...
Maybe you would have rather just seen a close up of the Prince's "camel toe" for the duration of the song?!? Would love to hear some other ideas...being the musical genius that the man is, his videos leave something to be desired...

perhaps the reason why nobody's participating on this joint is because yer idea's about 10 years too late.

Most of the stuff discussed on here is about ten years old! I just thought it would be cool to see something different, a more short "movie" type video. He probably could do something similar in the future. Sort of like a sequel to Purple Rain, without actually doing a sequel to Purple Rain(where he would get crucified in the press even if it were a masterpiece.) I would imagine a video like this could gain worldwide press that would exceed the resurgence of last year. (Can you imagine having Carmen Electra & Kim Basinger doing this...the press would eat it up! -Plus it is not like there that "hot" right now, they could use the press. It is not out of the relm of possibility that they would be involved.) Prince, if your reading -contact me...I got tons of ideas...

I think that an expressive video like this could have given the entire collection of songs a link and tied the entire project together. Everyone knew how happy Prince was at that time with Mayte. Showing that she was the one that he actually loved and married would have given everyone reason to pause and ponder things to come..... "A united state of mind will never be divided
The real definition of unity is 1 People can slam their door, disagree and fight it But how U gonna love the Father but not love the Son? United States of Division"

He also could also tweak the concept for another song. I think if he was able to persuade some "old flames" to parody his past in a new video, the free press alone would be worth it.
