Do e-bay sellers think we're stupid

How about this? On e-bay right now, someone is selling a still sealed "Controversy" album with poster for a starting bid of $120.00 (a little less than 60 British pounds). The good news is you can buy it now for only $280!!! The discription says that you should see how much this record sells when it is open and that this is a great deal. OMG lol How stupid do we look? I bought the album with the poster open for $5.00 at a used store here in town. For some reason there are no bids on this item lol
Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

I go a little crazy spending money on his 12" singles. I finally won the UK 12" for "Sexy dancer" for $108.00 and a US 12" promo for "I wanna be your lover" for $91.00. A little bit overpriced? maybe, but worth every dollar for me smile

So the sellers are crooks because someone was stupid enough to bid that amount of money?

At the end of the day, it's an auction site, people are not forced to bid high amounts but they do, that doesn't make the sellers crooks, just opportunists.

Have you NEVER bought and sold anything for a profit?

If so, don't call people crooks for unfounded reasons.

I gotta admit that made me laugh lol I guess I am stupid, but dammit I've been looking for that record for over 10 years!!! Besides, that was the second copy I bid on at about the same price. I was outbid the last time so apparently someone else thinks the "Sexy dancer" 12" is worth that much :p "Controversy" the album with the poster isn't that rare, even if it's sealed.

This had a starting price of £20 (!) until it was recently revised. Still expensive now I reckon.

I recently considered putting 3 Prince T-Shirts from the purple rain era up on ebay. People have been know to do more desperate things than this for money. Money is very tight right now or else it wouldn't have crossed my mind. Not everyone is a crook.
If I didn't value those shirts I would not have hung on to them. I never thought of selling them before. Reading a post by someone on the Org who was looking for that type of wearable Prince T-shirt gave me the idea.
To some people money is nothing if they have an abundance of it. A dollar to a poor man might feel like 1000 dollars to a rich man. I haven't noticed many wealthy people stepping forward to help others around here. And lots of people are just trying to find a job. I thought this could be a way for me to help myself. No one forces anyone to do anything they don't want to do on ebay.

speaking of ebay sellers...I've noticed alot of preloaded ipods with Prince, etc. music for sale. Is this even legal? I thought ebay was pretty strict with the bootleggings, etc. They've been bringing pretty good $$ and I'm just curious what the thought is on this. Thanks.

You never know, someone might be stupid or uneducated enough to buy it. But i doubt it!

Don't know if you were talking in context of your locale, or about the Org in general, but if the latter, you'd be surprised actually: http://www.prince.org/msg/100/164475

That was a refreshing read. I didn't see this thread in GD.
I was speaking in general about the area where I live hit hard with lay offs and reductions. It is really getting cut throat out there with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. Homelessness and heating bills on the rise.
I'm sure that there are good and bad people everywhere but any love around town drawfs the love shown by these orgers. heart
Thanks for the link.

I don't see how a seller auctioning an item is a crook. Bidders are bidding and paying of their own volition. I sold a legit Canadian vinyl pressing of "Mazarati 2" a few years back (bought initially for £10), which eventually sold for £285. Could you point out to me where the problem is? I don't recall hammering the buyer's bollocks to the floor and torturing him until I received the money.
